The famous Chinese poet lived here for 4 years and wrote over 250 poems during that period. This is a massive garden with wonderful flora and fauna. There are also small lakes interspersed around the premise. It is nicely landscaped. Some of his poems are inscribed on stone tablets and mounted on walls around the premise. Take the Metro to Yipintainxia on Line 2 and leave at exit B. Walk down the side road (Tonghe Lu) where you exit the Metro. Keep walking straight ahead over some roads (about 10-15 min walk). There are plenty of places to eat along this road if you are hungry, there is a restaurant on the site, but we did not see or use it. The grounds are lovely and there are plenty of benches if you want to take food in with you. Free drinking water is plentiful from bottled water dispensers in the Exhibition hall. You can't miss the Museum on your RHS. This takes you in through the East Entrance (you need to buy your tickets from the ticket office just past the entrance 80rmb each). There is a map of the site on the back of the ticket, I don't know if they sell guide books, but you don't need one. All the displays are explained in Chinese and English. Straight ahead as you enter is the Archelogical site in the Site-Exhibit hall. Worth going here first as you can see where some of the main artifacts were found. In the Ehibition Halls near the North Entrance are various items found during the excavations. The exhibits were interesting to view, the Gold mask has pride of place and should not be missed. There didn't seem to be any restrictions on taking photos. Once you have done the halls there are then some lovely grounds to walk round and in which to sit. This is the biggest single site of dinosaur remains in the world -- an ancient riverbed exposed, many dinosaurs reconstructed, including some of the most fascinating you could see. An exquisite fossil of the Chinese version of archaeopteryx, complete with feathers; the second largest carnivore skull in the world; it's like discovering the fossils yourself. As an author who has written about this topic, I was amazed. Children will be gob-smacked. It's a bit of a drive, located between Chengdu and Luzhou in Sichuan Province, but it's worth it.See more..

All the buldings are inside a beautiful park. Very calm place, I would say ideal for families and couples. Entrance is for free and inside you can rent an electric car (80yuan/1st hour; 40yuan/second hour). Easy to operate, my daughter drove all the way around the park. We finished visiting in about 1,5 hour. For couples, it may worth to spend there even longer, enjoy the nature as the whole park may seem very romantic.See more..

If you really want to see why bamboo is so important in China - this is the place for you to visit. It is free of charge and has 2 floors of exceptional exhibits nicely laid out. Bamboo scrolls, calligraphy, beautiful paintings of and on bamboo, exquisite bamboo carvings, furniture, weapons, household items and more. Many old books describing the importance and central role of this plant in the history and culture of China. Certainly worth half an hour or more.See more..

Yibin is popular for two reasons, one it is the first city in the Yangtze river and two, the Wuliangye factory. It's been a great experience, a city in a city, with a showroom, tasting room, viewing spots of the whole factory and amazing art. Be sure to visit this factory when in Yibin.See more..

The Red Army crossed the Jinsha River at Qiaoqiao. At Jiaopingdu, the Red Army soldiers were bombarded by enemy planes. The water was strong. After seven days, nine small boats were used to cross the river, and the enemy encirclement was thrown away. The memorials in the area recognize the great hardships and sacrifices made. My photos include the caves along the cliffs and close to the Jinsha River where Red Army members lived in hiding. The 8th cave is where Chairman Mao lived, and the 9th cave is where Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, and Liu Bo were staying. This site can a little tricky to find. It is surrounded by modern buildings so pay attention to the signs to find it. I thought it was an OK site for a one time visit. It contained some nice bits of information Zhang Lan, but it is not a large site. So a long visit is not really feasible here.See more..
