    After seeing the pandas, I decided to walk back via the trail which is quite easy to find after a short walk on the road from the panda base.     I've been there several times on motorcycle and bike and its one of the coolest roads to travel on. Its just west of Leshan and Emei shan. However, foreigners aren't technically allowed there. I guess you can try to get permission in Leshan. I guess if you don't draw attention to yourself you should be ok. Up to Ebian is ok but Jinkou is definitely off limits. Anyway, its a fun newly paved road goes at bottom of canyon and has awesome views. I'm not sure about hiking or anything but its good for onward travel to southern Sichuan and other places.
