The Oriental Pearl - Beautiful and serene scenic area
This oriental pearl (so named by Marco Polo) of a paradise is a great place for a “getaway from the big city” vacation. The air is extremely clean and fresh. The locals are very friendly. Much of the cuisine is about as organic as it comes. The lake is about as pollution-free as it gets. The scenery is fantastic. The Qionghai Lake and Lushan Mountain area in aggregate is about 80 square kilometres. The lake is about 1,510 metres above sea level, and the area has an average annual temperature of 18C. A sign in the area says: “Xichang is called Spring City and Moon City because it is warm in winter and cool in summer, there is full of sunshine, fresh air and bright moon.” Qionghai Lake is located in Sichuan Province, about five kilometres from Xichang City. On the east it is at the foot of Daliangshan Mountain, and on the south to nearby Lushan Mountain. The lake is approximately 31 square kilometres, with an average depth of 14 metres.

Marco Polo was right
Marco Polo supposedly called this the " oriental pearl " and it still is today! We talk about the beauty of the Swiss and Italian lakes and Qionhai Lake is on a par with any of them. You can easily spend a few days here, doing something different every day. You can hire bikes to cycle round the lake. You can take boat tours on the lake or simply meander round the sight seeing town and after all of that you simply cross the road and head up the Woyun mountain with all that has to offer! The climate is so good that you can enjoy the area even in December and January.

The lake is gorgeous from the surrounding mountains
I actually visited this lake in 2008. You would never imagine it but just outside of this massive city are some of the best views while hiking up the mountains.
