To my opinion the best attraction of Radebeul, this train travel for 16km in wonderful area, several stations that you can jump out and jump in, you can travel with bike and then stop on several stations along the railway, after you finish you can take the next train for the next stop, family attraction, I notice also that during summer time, August, there is also simulation of wild west events along the railway, don't miss it, family event. I travelled on a private steam charter on the Waldeisenbahn (aka Muskau Forest Railway) as part of a Railway Touring Company tour around Germany. This is a lovely little railway with a wonderful industrial narrow gauge atmosphere, weaving in and out of forests and mine workings. Our trip took in all of the branches, including some I believe are not normally open to the public. A few of us took the option of riding in the open wagons behind the loco, a truly exhilirating experience. We had a mid-afternoon stop for coffee and very delicious cake and had an opportunity to look around the museum sheds and workshops. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and were more than happy to arrange run-pasts for the photographers. If you are in the area and have an interest in railways or industrial heritage, I'd certainly recommend a visit. See more..
