I have to say it may br strange to visit a cemetery but it is worth the stop. I spent an more than an hour wandering and looking at the grounds a buildings. Many interesting sculptures and grave sites from sungle to family and even some Nazi markers that give pause to wonder. Worth the stop and next to the Leupzig memorial.See more..
The chapel was financed by donations when first built. It was dedicated to St. Nicholas and St. Barbara . Before the construction of the chapel could be finished, it burned down in 1441. Due to the generosity of the citizens of the city, the chapel was largely rebuilt by 1444 on a much larger scale. In the course of the siege of the city in 1620 the Nikolaikirche was considerably destroyed and devastated. Only after the city fire on May 2, 1634 did the cathedral monastery plan to rebuild the church. Before the reconstruction of the church could begin, the timber was used by the Swedes to build palisades during their siege of the city in 1639 . After this siege, the intention was to rebuild the church again, but for financial reasons the cathedral monastery decided to rebuild the Church of Our Lady, which had burned down in 1634, instead. As a result, the Nikolaikirche has remained in ruins to this day. We loved looking around and seeing the old grave. It's such a beautiful place.See more..

Кладбище, основанное в XVI в., отражает основные вехи истории города. Помимо множества прекрасно сохранившихся исторических надгробных памятников горожан, на кладбище имеются массовые воинские захоронения: солдат русско-прусской армии 1813 г. (Баутценское сражение с войсками Наполеона) и советских и польских солдат апреля 1945 г. (Вайсберг-Баутценское сражение). Посещение кладбища - хороший способ составить полное представление об истории города. Можно обратить внимание на французское ядро, застрявшее в стене одного из склепов - как результат сражения 1813 г. (под ядром указана дата попадания его в стену). Многие надгробия представляют собой великолепные образцы скульптуры разных эпох. Кладбище представляет собой засаженные деревьями аллеи - превосходное место для прогулок и раздумий.See more..
