Meissen is sometimes known as the “Cradle of the Saxony”. It is located northwest of Dresden, on both banks of the Elbe River, in eastern Germany. It is famous for the manufacturing of Meissen porcelain. A group of us took the tour which was amazing. Well organized with separate rooms and seating demonstrating each stage of the porcelain making process. It was performed efficiently without being overwhelmed. A few minutes and then to the next room for the next step of the process then again until completion. Various porcelains were beautifully displayed for sale including an outlet room with affordable items. We were no strangers to a pottery making process, nevertheless this was a unique experience, both enjoyable and educational. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and highly recommend it.See more..

Nachdem wir das Fastentuch in der Kirche zum heiligen Kreuz bewundert haben, sind wir mit der Kombikarte in das Städtische Museum, das im ehemaligen Franziskanerkloster untergebracht ist, gegangen. Hier befindet sich das zweite Fastentuch von Zittau. Aber das Museum hat viel mehr zu bieten. In den Klosterräumen und in der Kirche kann man viele historische Epitaphien sehen, aber auch alte Einrichtungsgegenstände. Viele Exponate stehen dicht beisammen, so dass sie nicht optimal zur Geltung kommen. Aber besser so, als sie weg zu schließen. Die Menge an Ausstellungsstücken ist überwältigend. Die Angestellten sind sehr freundlich und geben gerne Auskunft über das Kloster, bzw. den Zustand der Anlage vor der Wende. Wir waren sehr positiv überrascht und können dieses Museum weiter empfehlen.See more..
