    Take the Schwedenlocher walk from Kurort Rathen to Bastei Bridge. Lots of steps , but they are dirt not rock so not slippery in the rain. Magnificent cliff faces and moss covered rock walls, and the trees in autumn are splendid. See more..

    This rock formation is visible from distance and resemble two nuns. There is a legend about two nuns being punished for being subjects of earthly love by turning to stone. You can read the story close to the Gondol lake next to the wooden nun statue. Unfortunately only in German. The trail to the top is steep, not difficult though. The view from the viewing platform is definitely worth an effort. There is a restaurant at the top but it was closed during my visit. See more..

    I was really amazed. The nature and the rock formations are just breath taking. So bad that I found it more less by coincidence at the end of my long hiking at the Saxon/Czech border. Although it is not really big area it is definitely a place for a day trip and I will surely come back soon to explore it deeper. There are plenty well marked hiking trails. Some of them comfortable, some of them more wild requiring solid shoes. Easiest start of the hike is from big paid parking lot near restaurant Gondelfahrt. Parking fee is 4 EUR a day. Several marked trails start directly here. The rock city is at the other side of the road than Nonenfelsen which are visible from the road. See more..

    Wir waren schon mehrfach hier.
    Es ist immer wieder schön. Angenehme Atmosphäre, auf die Kinder wird sehr gut eingegangen und alles gut erklärt. Meine Enkeltochter kommt mindestens 2x im Jahr aus der Schweiz zu Besuch und das Haus der Steine ist ein absolutes Muss. Auch mit meinem Enkelsohn war ich schon dort und auch er war begeistert.
