    Museo Dabawenyo image
Arrived here at the end of April and this was on my museum list to see. There was a large CLOSED banner across the metal gate. I thought that since it was lunchtime, maybe they were just closed for that, since it was not a holiday either, but start of business Monday. Came back to see it remained closed and inquired - reply was that they are RELOCATING to another building and this building will be used for another purpose. I'm posting this just as an FYI. I never saw any exhibits there, so no options on their holdings. See more..

  6. 4.0 Balangay Shrine Museum (36 reviews)
    - A cute museum
    Speciality Museums
    Balangay Shrine Museum image
This small museum is sevral kilometers east of downtown Butuan City where lays the resting ground of the Balangay 1 boat dated 320 A.D. The wooden boats measured an average of 15 meters in length which said to carry the first settlers of Butuan. To date, 9 Balangays have already been discovered in Ambangan, Libertad sites. The museum is just like a small house so you could be out in that establishment in 15 minutes. Aside from the remains of the Balangay boats you would also find the remains of the early settlers found in coffin burials so if you are squeamish about skeletons just don't go there. The Balangay is a cultural heritage that establishes the maritime activities of Butuan long before the Chinese came to the shores of the Philippines. Butuan is protected against any form of intrusion, illegal excavation or vandalism because of a Presidential Order. I hope that the government would pay attention regarding the needs of this national treasure. It really needs a good renovation. See more..

    International Doll House image
My friend badly wanted to go here but I wasn’t that interested. Lots of dolls (some of them really looks creepy - Anabelle feels). Aside from dolls, there are some collectibles too like a tea cup made out of gold. Btw, it’s quite a climb to get here - lots of stairs that never seem to end. See more..

City Museum of Cagayan de Oro image
No entrance fee. The building is near the Church and in front of a park. The structure is already exquisite. There might be few artifacts but it is worth it visiting this place. Some of the pictures are printed on a tarpaulin I think to preserve the original copies so don't be disappointed with it. It's good to have a little knowledge about the place you are visiting. Museum of Three Cultures image
Located at the Capitol University. Just tell the person-in-charge at the gate that you are visiting their museum and they would show you the way. We paid 50 pesos for the entrance fee. They have a room all about the owner of the school, room for art exhibits and the main, interesting room for their collections. The artifacts were personally collected by the owner and it's really interesting (visit the place to know why). Our guide was really knowledgeable about the artifacts that made the tour extra special. See more..

    Rock and Mineral Museum image
from the heart of the city, it is about a kilometer to find this museum. Maintained by the Bureau of Mines and Geology, it showcase all the rocks and minerals found in the whole region of CARAGA. It has quite a few of its array of mineral rocks, but fine enough to see what are the existing and potential mineral elements found in the area. One suggestion: they should lighten up more the museum as some areas are so dark that it gives a creepy feeling.... See more..
