  2. 4.5 Mt Hibok-Hibok (60 reviews)
    - physically challenging
    Mountains
    Mt Hibok-Hibok image
I wonder why no one here ever mentioned that the climb was quite physically challenging. I'm not one to hide the struggle. If you plan on going up the volcano, you have to at least be physically fit as it can be truly draining. It's no joke. I'm 5'4" at 115 lbs and I certainly wished I had prepared for the trek better. Also, don't forget to bring insect repellant against mosquitoes and ants. Use the right shoes as well. With all that said, I still think it was orth it. When you reach the summit, the view is worth every sweat and mozzy bite. We were lucky to have done it on a clear day otherwise, the clouds would obstruct the fantastic view so check the weather too. Be aware of the fees involved. The guide fee is Php 1200 per trek (per group) and the environmental fee is Php 200 per person. All this is government-regulated and related paperwork needs to be secured the day before. Ronald's father-in-law was the most awesome guide. At 62 years old, he made me want to work out again. 5. 4.5 Tuboran Eriberta Spring (12 reviews)
    - Eriberta Cold Spring

    Tuboran Eriberta Spring image
My husband decided to spent the holidays back in his hometown of Ozamis and wanted me to see this man-made river with cold, clear, clean water coming from a natural spring. It took approx. 2 hours to reach it and it was without traffic. For someone from Manila this may feel like a very far place to go to lol Admittedly I did not want to expect too much but I was pleasantly surprised! the 'resort' was at the top of the mountain, it feels like it since getting there is going uphill on uncemented road. The entrance fee is 35 pesos each, children younger than 4 yrs old are free. Cottages cost 125 pesos. The water is freezing cold hahaha I love the place! See more..
  6. 4.5 Bud Bongao (8 reviews)
    - Amazing view at the top! Worth the hike!!
Spent More than 3 hours Mountains
    Bud Bongao image
A visit to Tawi-Tawi isnt complete without hiking its sacred mountain, Bud Bungao. The climb is about 3/9 in terms of difficulty mainly due to the steep climb up the concrete stairs. The trail is concrete and has rails all throughout. It has 9 stations where you can rest and also some rest rooms. There are monkeys in the mountain. At the top is a view deck with an amazing view of Zamboanga peninsula, the airport runway can also be seen. Perfect sunset view. Be sure to bring water and snacks as there are no stores/vendors within the mountain. See more..

  11. 5.0 Mount Dulang-Dulang (5 reviews)
    - 2nd time
    Mountains
    Mount Dulang-Dulang image
Mt Dulang-Dulang can be accessed through Brgy Songco, Lantapan, Bukidnon. One has to coordinate with the locals beforehand. As part of their tradition, Datu Makapukaw will perform a ritual to ensure the safety of the climbers. The ritual costs P1,000 and another P800 for the 3 sacrificial chicken. Porter costs P600 per day. For expert climbers, you don't need a separate guide since one of the porters may act as a guide. But for beginners and amateurs, I recommend you hire an organizer as your guide. There is a water source 5 hrs from the foot of the mountain, and another water source just few minutes from the first campsite near Many's garden. For more details and contact information, just message Lakwatsyero in Facebook. (fb/lakwatsyero) Lastly, on the second day, make sure you start to ascend at least 1 hour before sunrise to witness the sea of clouds. See more..

    Mt. Wiji image
Mt. Wiji also known as Mt. Lumpanag is located just fronting the Mt. Kalatungan. MT. Wiji usually part of the traverse itinerary of those who are visiting Mt. Kalatungan. The place is good for night camping but please be reminded that you needed gears to keep your body warm. The place is so cold at night. Don't forget to bring your tent, insulators, ground sheets, thermal jackets, bonnets, double your socks and gloves. The place is accessible from Maramag to Pangantucan. Seek permit from the DOT in Pangantucan where you will sign the waivers and you will be given a short orientation. From Pangantucan you need to travel going to Barangay Mendis where you can hire a tour guide and porters. Visit this place if you want adventure. Must See! See more..

  15. 5.0 Mount Kalatungan (1 review)
    - Fifth Highest Mountain in the Philippines
Spent More than 3 hours Mountains
    Mount Kalatungan image
Ranked as 5th highest mountain in the Philippines. Mt. Kalatungan situated in Barngay mendis, Pangantucan, Bukidnon. If you are planning to go to Mt. Kalatungan, permit must be secured first from DOT of the Municipality so that you can hire reliable porters and tour guides to assist you in your trek. Drinking liquors is strictly prohibited during the visit. Once you will be caught violating the said policy, monetary sanctions and permanently banning you to visit the place will be your possible consequences. They have view deck area, where trekkers stay overnight before a whole day ascending. You have to pass Buko sa Anay which is a very nice place to see. The ridges are so fascinating plus the falls the you will see in between the mountain. There are some mossy areas of the forest. But, don't expect too much in the Mt. Kalatungan peak. Nothing you will see, unless there is the clearing. What you will see there are only trees and the landmark. Mas mag enjoy ka sa daan kaysa sa peak. At least narating mo. It is about 6-8 hours trek. Good luck. PS. Bring your poncho or raincoat. Make sure you enough water during your trek. See more..
  16. 4.0 Mt Candalaga (1 review)
    - Unplanned Trek to Mt Candalaga
    Mountains
    Mt Candalaga image
Mt Candalaga in Maragusan Compostela Valley is 7,800 ft above sea level...It is the home of the famous Rafflesia Mira that is about 45-60 cm in diameter....Trek going up is difficult bec i'm not prepared ( not wearing proper hiking shoes) but at the same time exciting...we saw only 1 flower in bloom....After exploring Mt Candalaga we went to see the famous Tagbibinta Falls, it's marvelous and i just can't wait to take a dip...Water is sooo cold and refreshing....it seems like you're having a hydro massage....Overall i enjoyed this unplanned trek to the mountains...Given the chance i will go back again and explore their water falls. Till next adventure See more..
  17. 4.0 Mt Mayapay (1 review)
    - Rough climb
    Mountains
    Mt Mayapay image
Mt Mayapay is a dominant feature in the Butuan City landscape. You cant miss it when you are exiting the airport. To climb Mayapay takes some planning. You have to get permission from the local military commander in Butuan City. This requires an official letter to the commander which he needs to sign for you to carry with you. The reason for this is the army has a camp at the top of the mountain and they want to be informed about any "visitors" and make sure people are safe when climbing. Next having a guide is a good idea...we located Vincet and his 2 sons to show us the way up. We started from the cell tower side (east) at 4 am, had a short rest at Vincent's house and then proceeded up a trail on the south facing side. the view of Butuan Bay was magnificent as was the sunrise. We could see all the way to Camiguin Island. About 100 meters before the summit the path along a cliff face ran out and Vincent started leading us up through the bush. I had shorts and and rubber shoes on...and by this time it was clear that long pants and hiking boots were needed. By this time it was past 7 am so we turned around and left the summit for another day. The trail is steep in many parts and I spent a lot of time on my butt sliding down. There may be an easier way to the top on the other side but I'll leave that until next time. See more..
