Zadar sea organs is in my opinion the biggest attraction of this city. I recommend to go there when the sunset is happening, which gaves us a great show of music and light. In general the city is very friendly, welocming You with the restaurants, bars, clubs and happy and friendly people. Recommend that city !See more..
4.5Stradun(2.653 reviews) - The high street Medieval style… Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
Stradun constitutes the Main Street in the old city, paved with some of the shiniest slippery limestone you will ever see. In the day it’s a useful orientation point, by night some of the cities more interesting busking can be witnessed from classical music duo’s to owl handlers and a group of men blowing horns and clacking ratchets! Don’t miss the little balancing stone just outside the friars monastery either. Bookmarked by Big Onofrio’s fountain at one end and the Sponza palace at the other, it’s definitely worth a stroll.See more..

4.0Pile Gate(2.584 reviews) - Entrance into Dubrovnik Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
This is the main entrance in to the Dubrovnik Old Town. It is very interesting to see the fortification and the size of the massive city walls here and consider that it has been there since 1537. Although it is now gone, you can easily imagine the draw bridge that once was there. There is a statue of St. Blaise there and then great maps of the city layout hung on the wall. This entrance takes you right to the main street of the city, the Stradun. First thing you come to is a great fountain which, like most fountains in the city, is fed by water from the surrounding hills so it is quite pure and you can fill your water bottles from it.See more..
4.5The Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace(1.735 reviews) - Most amazing spot for me... Spent 1-2 hours Ancient Ruins • Points of Interest & Landmarks
Yes, as other reviewers have said, Diocletian's Palace is the key attraction in Split. However, while the various museums and attractions around this square require kind of pricey admission tickets, this place can be visited and enjoyed for free. There was something about this spot which marked the place where the emperor's royal area ended and the "normal" city began seemed so well preserved. It was so easy to tune out the rest of the world and the other tourists and just image what it must have been like centuries ago. The cathedral towers to one side and the most amazing ruins are right ahead. I did not elect to have a coffee in the coffee shop that sort of ruins the ambiance a bit but I did spend a bit of time here both day and night when it is lit up stunningly!See more..
4.5Korcula Old City(1.367 reviews) - Historic town with unique stepped streets. Points of Interest & Landmarks
We visited here today, arriving on the 10 AM passenger ferry (24 kn each RT) from Orebic. With its convenient landing, we walked to the nearby Porta Maris to climb the Baroque staircase up to the main plaza, the largest level area in Korcula. Besides the artistic Cathedral of St Mark with it's cone shaped ciborium and Tintoretto over the altar, there are the 15th C Bishop’s Palace Treasury, the Town Museum in a 16th C Palace and the map of Marco Polo’s 1271-1295 travels (near his supposed birthplace). We spotted so many wonderfully sculpted stone doorways, window frames and lintels on walks around this town and up to the main 13th C old town gate-tower.See more..
4.0Zadar Land City Gates(1.185 reviews) - The Land Gate, Zadar Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Ancient Ruins • Points of Interest & Landmarks
The most elaborate of the city gates also has the prettiest setting, facing a sheltered little marina. Dating from 1543, it has Renaissance-style decorations including St Chrysogonus (Zadar's patron saint) on horseback and the Venetian winged lion. The gate is still used by traffic and was clearly meant to impress those entering – the reverse side is decidedly plain. To get a really good view go up the stairs on the side and walk up into the park. Great place to take photos.See more..
4.0Onophrian Fountain(1.165 reviews) - Large Onofrio’s fountain Points of Interest & Landmarks
It’s a beautiful structure that you wil definitely notice upon entering through the Pile Gate. Walking on Stradun takes you there. The water in this fountain “Large Onofrio’s fountain” is drinkable. Most of the articles or information you’ll find call this place Large Onofrio’s fountain or Big Onofrio’s fountain. It’s apparently named after its creator/designer Onofrio della Cava from Naples.See more..
4.5Central Square in Trogir(892 reviews) - We stopped for lunch, pretty town Points of Interest & Landmarks
We stopped off here for lunch. We parked in the first carpark which is about a 15 minute walk but had lots of space, where the nearer one was pretty full. We ate in the square. It’s really pretty and a rounded by the church and town hall. It was also reasonable priced here and we were able to find somewhere that served lunch food like sandwiches as opposed to a big cooked meal easily. We are really glad we stopped off and had a little walk around.See more..
4.5Ston City Walls(767 reviews) - Excellent views, although you need to be properly prepared in terms of water and footwear Points of Interest & Landmarks
The entry fee is 70 kuna, reduced to 50 kuna, if you have the 3 or 7 day Dubrovnik Pass, so leave this until heading north, if you're starting from Dubrovnik, and are planning to buy the pass in Dubrovnik, as it doesn't seem to be available in Ston. There are two walks you can do, one a short loop, which might take about 20 minutes, and the other, over to Mali Ston, which will take most people perhaps an hour, depending on how hot it is. If you're going to Mali Ston, be sure to take water. It's pretty steep in parts, and there isn't a lot of shelter from the sun, but if you're fit, the views are well worth it. Parking is by the meter in either village, at 8 kuna per hour. I personally thought two hours was sufficient, unless you're planning on eating there.See more..
4.5Cavtat Cemetery(754 reviews) - Worth the climb Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries
Sits on top of hill in town, but it's definitely worth the hike. This final resting place is peaceful and has amazing views. Mausoleum is beautiful, if you want to enter there's a small fee per person (10kn). See more..
4.0The Forum(522 reviews) - A 'walk by' attraction. But add a little history & these remnants of an earthquake begin to live again. Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
The seemingly random relics of buildings allow you to touch the history lying at your feet. Zadar is a planned city Quadrata layout undertaken by the Romans, & this, I'm told, is obvious to the educated eye, & thankfully is still preserved some 2 millenia later . Following the earthquake in 6th Century much of the area was reduced to rubble & the medieval square & a Renaissance cistern were built. I tried to include more info from a great website but you can sniff out more history ... ... I'm not going to do all the heavy lifting for you!See more..
Perhaps the affectionate name tag of ‘Fruit Square’ refers to a bygone era. Not a hint of fruit - or any other type of food - in the square in December, January or February, but no matter. This is a gorgeous square and functions as a main conduit between the Riva and the inner part of the Old Town. Not at all difficult to find and, in fact, most tourists will very likely pass through it without having to have specific directions. The jewel in its crown is the Venetian Tower.See more..
We walked along the promenade several times as there are ever changing views over to the island offshore. Interesting buildings, city walls, some sculptures, the Sea Organ and the cruise ship dock are all accessible from this walkway. The final section of new stonework and a quay are being rebuilt and will be finished soon.See more..
4.5Starigrad Fortress(410 reviews) - Steep hike, but amazing views Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Castles
During summer, go in the morning hours. The road is not very well maintained, but can be done even by smaller children. The path is quite steep and rocks are loose, so can get slippery especially downwards. Wear good shoes and bring plenty of water. The fortress is not such a big thing, but the trip and the view will compensate for that. There are zero services on the top (not even a toilette), but a guy will still charge some entrance fee.See more..
The Five Wells Square in Zadar was built in 1574 during the siege of the Ottoman Empire army, when the defensive moat was covered up on the west side of the bastion, previously excavated in the Middle Ages. In its place, a large cistern for drinking water with five decorated wellheads was built, and parts of the aqueduct that used to bring water directly from the Vrana Lake, have been preserved. After the danger had passed, a protective wall was built on the site. On one side is the the entrance to the Queen Jelena Madije Park, and on another the Captain's Tower that rises 26 metres. Their are several places to eat some with upper terraces and the space is large enough to host events such as a concert which was on whilst we were there.See more..
Primosten is accessed by a short bridge from the Croatian mainland and it is a short walk past shops and old housing to the top of the town where the church, first built in 1483 is sited overlooking the sea. The cemetery on the cliff next to the church is particularly interesting. It was then very pleasant to walk back down into the town square to sit and have an ice cream or drink.See more..

4.5Bell Tower(108 reviews) - Impressive views, especially at sunset Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Observation Decks & Towers
Great views in all directions. We were there at sunset with few people so we zipped to the top. If there were lots of people, there could be some congestion on the stairs, especially the first 30-40 stairs which are narrow, so traffic can only flow in one direction at a time. First couple floors completed in 15th century, the top was finally completed in the ltate 1800's by an English architectSee more..
