Often referred to as the “lungs of the city”, this green forest oasis west of Split's old town area is a favorite amongst locals for hiking, biking, swimming, and rock climbing. The serene walk up to Telegrin peak includes 314 steps and rewards you with stunning panoramic views of the city and the Adriatic Sea. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes, if not, there's always the tourist train that can take you straight to the top. Take your time to explore the other cool trails—pitstops include an old Jewish cemetery, quaint churches, cave dwellings, a museum dedicated to local sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, and some of Split's best beaches. – Tripadvisor See more..

Beautiful national park with plenty of walks. There was a natural cave park here which was absolutely worth the trip. Only 65k per person and the guide spoke English as well as Croatian. We stayed a few days with swimming and paddle-boarding on the Lika river too. See more..

Take an uber (or bus 17 from the Pile gate) and spend time vounteering to walk the dogs, feed/water them, mend fences and build dog houses. It is an amazing place that is run by only a few dedicated locals who work tirelessly take care of the 400 homeless dogs. The entire shelter is run by donations and they are in dire need of dog food, supplies, medicine and money. The dogs seemed very happy and content, although many were in need of basic medicine/vet care. The employees were wonderful, spoke English and worked very hard! Go early in the morning because it gets very hot in the afternoons. Bring treats and please donate your time and money to help them - see their website for items they need. See more..

A very interesting place 15 minutes drive from the center of Šibenik. Presentations with owls and falcons are held every full hour. Presentations last 30-60 minutes and are very interactive. They are instructive for children and adults. They accept credit cards. Dogs are not allowed. There is a small bar and a small gift shop. There is free parking for cars. See more..

We got there at 18:40 and just had 20 minutes to visit, which was nothing. But nobody was there and the lake was so quiet and calm. The view was perfect in the sunset light and it turned to one of the most memorable moments of our trip. See more..

A beautiful and interesting natural park 5 kilometers from Biograd na Moryu. There are three entrances, each of which you can buy tickets for, and each of which has different things to do. We visited the lake itself (Crkvine entrance), here you walk about a kilometer on wooden paths in the lake and watch birds (there were quite a few birds, see the photos). Then we drove to the Kamenjak entrance, it is on top of one of the hills - from here there is a great view of the lake and the islands along the coast. The experience was definitely worth it.
