- 3.5 Thermen Soesterberg (480 reviews)
-Sunday Relaxation
Spent More than 3 hours Hammams & Turkish Baths • Spas • Thermal Spas
Came here after visiting the motor cycle show in Soest. It was a relaxing experience! In short: + Many saunas to choose from + Friendly staff, there was a mistake in the receipt, there was a drink added that we didn't even order, but they said it's their fault and immediately said we didn't have to pay that extra drink + Hot Stone Massage is definitely recommended! - A bit crowded in the beginning but around 18:30 PM it became emptier and more place in the baths and saunas See more..

-A Bewitching Half-Hour
Speciality Museums
We were walking through the busy market place in Oudewater when we stumbled upon the Witches' Weighhouse. After watching a short video on witch-finding and looking at the exhibits on the upper floor we began the serious process of determining whether either of us were witches. First we were verbally examined about our likes, dislikes, professions and attitudes, then put to the real test - to determine if our weights were below normal for mere human beings. Witches, of course, are weightless or light, enabling them to fly through the air. We mounted the ancient scales while the curator added weights to the other side. Amazingly, she had sufficient to prove beyond doubt that we hadn't made a pact with Old Nick, so she issued us with certificates to verify it. A fun and informative half-hour. See more..

- 3.0 Park Boom en Bosch (14 reviews)
-quiet park in a quiet town; extras in Fall and Summer: Dutch poffertjes/music
Spent < 1 hour Parks
This is a nice little park in the town of Breukelen. It is rather small, but so is the town. There are some benches, wooded area a lawn and you can walk around the 'Boom en Bosch' building (former city hall) to get to the garden that is facing the river Vecht. That is a beautiful part of it. Also with additional seating. In the Fall/Autumn there is the 'poffertjeskraam' that serves delicious Dutch poffertjes (stacks of tiny pancakes with butter and powdered sugar). Yummy! And in the summer a foundation organizes weekly music performances in the park on Sunday. That is mainly in July and August. They even will provide garden chairs to sit in and enjoy the music. The concerts are free. There is food/drinks for sale and a lottery for which you can buy tickets in the intermission. Usually the first performance is from 2pm to 3pm and the second performance is from 3:15pm to 4pm(ish). Both Fall and Summer activities are a bonus to going to this park. See more..

- 3.5 Museum Oud Soest (11 reviews)
-Lovely musea established with love to Soest
Speciality Museums
My friend suggested to travel to Soest in order to see the exposition of Cornelis de Bruin, Dutch expressionist and ceramist. What a shame that his works are not well known to the broader public as his depictions of landscapes with pastels colors are magic. Besides discovering the paintings, I was completely amazed by the building of this museum which used to be the monastery, the exhibits here but most of all I was fascinated by the passion and the love put by its volunteers who are warm hearted people of Soest knowing lots about the history of their city and about each and every single detail in this pretty big museum. The entrance commission which is 5 euro can only be paid in cash or via bank transfer, volunteers are not putting pressure on you by immediate payment and letting you in prior to your later payment which is rare these days. You need at least 2 hours to be able to see the key objects in this museum. Don’t miss it! See more..

-AGE DISCRIMINATION
Sports Complexes
A few months ago we saw this flyer for a party at the pool. We decided to save the date so that we could have some fun! But they actually did not let us in because of our age!!! We are all about 23 years old, but they literally said that we were too old, despite the fact that there wasn't any age restriction to see. The woman behind the desk was very unpleasant; she wasn't very understanding about our predicament, and even seemed insulted that we had dared to show up. The brochure said nothing about age, and we considered taking legal action, but decided to write a passive aggressive review instead. REEEEEEEEEE See more..

- 3.0 Rederij Zuidwal - Spakenburg Cruise (9 reviews)
-A bit disappointing
Boat Tours
The boat operates as a ferry between holiday park Eemhof and the historic city of Spakenburg and is a good way to get from the holiday park into Spakenburg for a daytrip. It is not very interesting the other way round, unless you want to go for a hike or bike ride into nature on a sunny day or a swim in Aqua Mundo. The boat itself is nothing like the old botters in the harbour, but just a commercial boat. A bit expensive and uninteresting if you just want to take a boat tour. Tip: Take the tour from Stichting Waterlijn in the nearby city of Amersfoort instead: much more interesting and cosy! See more..

- 3.0 De Plofsuis (4 reviews)
-Een uniek onderdeel van de Hollandse waterlinie
Points of Interest & Landmarks
See more..

-No English!
Boat Tours
They were told that part of our group only spoke English yet the whole tour was in Dutch, no written English resources, no audio resources in English, no attempt to speak English even periodically and the guide talked too quickly for our translator to keep up. No English safety directions in the boat, and no indication that we were stopping or starting or the direction we were going in either. Just played follow the leader really. At one point we were waking in some tunnels in a big building, I indicated to the guide I didn’t know what was happening but he didn’t attempt to clarify anything in English. It was a lovely boat ride and wander through woerden though. Too bad I had no idea what was going on. See more..

-St. Martinuskerk
Churches & Cathedrals
For a roman catholic church, the "St.Martinuskerk" is quite a new one. It is a post-war church ( built in 1950-1951 ). The original catholic church "Maarteenkerk" was used as protestant church. Though on the door of the church the note said that the church is open from 25th April but it was closed when we were there. On the left wall of the church there is a "wall of connection" ( kind of the wailing wall in Jeruzalem ) that symbolizes the connection we experience with God and with each other in this corona time. You can write you prayer to God as a letter and put it in the wall and then will be burned. See more..

See more..

-Maartenskerk : National Monument
Churches & Cathedrals
Nederlands Hervormde Kerk of Doorn is the Maartenskerk that was originally dedicated as a Catholic Church when it was built in 1180. Since 2016 the church is in used by the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. Usually it's not open except on Sundays or only for the services. There was a couple who's going to get married in this church in July and they needed to see inside the church before their day come. I was there and got inside with them. It's quite a big space but looks empty ( because of the pandemic that is only for 30 persons ). Finally visited this church after years having monthly visit in the area. On the church square there is an old water pump and a statue of Simon Vestdijk, a writer who was a resident of Doorn. See more..
- 3.0 Poortgebouw Kasteel Montfoort (15e Eeuw) (1 review)
-15e eeuws poortgebouw
Historic Sites
See more..
