Chongsheng Three Pagodas, Yunnan, China
4.5 (516 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Yunnan Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Architectural Buildings • Observation Decks & Towers
Take shuttle all the way up and then walk down
Impressive architecture with the mountains as backdrop. Not just the three pagodas but temples and the grounds as such are beautifully kept. The lake reflection spot with three pagodas in the background is worth stopping for but make sure you spend enough time exploring the rest!

Bigger than it looks in pictures
The three Pagodas are much bigger than they appear in pictures, so was quite surprised. Attached with this property are a series of buildings of old Chinese architecture ( the colorful ones that you have seen in any other chinese temple). Many temples in the compound too. It's got a sprawling green park and soothing oriental music playing in the background ( less announcements surprisingly). I walked all the way up to the last temple of the stretch and took the golf cart back(15 kuai). Golf carts are available with full yours for 35 RMB per head. I'd suggest you walk up and take the golf cart down. It's a very gentle climb(many stairs though). As for the temples, one gets saturated with the same architecture, art and sculptures as you'd see in any other temple in China. I still keep visiting hoping that one would be different and surprise me. This one wasn't any different. But enjoyed this one over most other ones I have been to before. Also do walk around the shadow pool to get a picture of the reflection of the 3Ps on a pond.

Spectacular!
I enjoyed wandering the many gardens and temples of this scenic area. There are many opportunities to take photographs, relax and maybe shop for that special souvenir. I suggest you walk the entire area rather than taking the electric wagons up the hill. It is a great way to spend a morning and or afternoon out from Dali or Dali Ancient City.
