This is but one of a handful of interesting cemeteries in/around Ashley. Neat & respectfully maintained. This is not a large site, but an important monument nonetheless. I encourage a visit to this and any of the other area cemeteries of any faith tradition. You are bound to come across interesting headstones, some with photos imbedded in them (!), and even some from the early 1900s. See more..

This country cemetery is the resting place of German-Russian Baptists who used to have a church nearby. It is a notable historic site because of its association with evangelical ethnic settlers, but also because it commemorates a truly tragic episode of local history--the Lang farmhouse fire of 1946. Buried here in a common grave are the six children who perished that said night of 17 November 1946. The setting, however, alongside a kettle lake in the middle of the Missouri Coteau, is beautiful.
