    - tales from the riverbank
    Bodies of Water
    The River Cam image
Like many others on here, I never experienced the punt trips. Next time I'm in Cambridge, I will do that for sure. The photos tell me I missed out on a few things. My riverside experience was still good and I saw a few different parts of it due to the amount of walking I did . I recommend taking a walk along the river where you will see different bridge styles, different punting trips, birds, people on their boats, old boats and it's a delight for someone like myself hailing from a built up city. I much prefer this! See more..
  14. 4.5 Peterborough Cathedral (2.143 reviews)
    - Amazing views
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Churches & Cathedrals
    Peterborough Cathedral image
Peterborough Cathedral is in the heart of the historic city of Peterborough, England. There has been a place of worship and prayer on the site for 1350 years, the present building approaching its 900th anniversary. With superb Gothic West Front and beautiful hand-painted wooden nave ceiling. Peterborough Cathedral is also the resting place of Henry VIII's first wife, Katherine of Aragon. The Cathedral was also once the resting place of Mary Queen of Scots until her body was moved to Westminster Abbey in 1612. Today it continues to be the focus for a vibrant community. It is the principle church for the Church of England diocese of Peterborough, which serves Northamptonshire, Rutland and the Soke of Peterborough. The origins of the cathedral can be traced back to King Peada of the Middle Angles who founded the first monastery on the site in 655AD. The monastic settlement was almost entirely destroyed by the Vikings in 870 and rebuilt as a Benedictine Abbey between 960 and 970. The Abbey church then survived Hereward the Wake’s attack on the Abbey in 1069, and remained intact until an accidental fire destroyed the second Abbey here in 1116. It was rebuilt in its present form between 1118 and 1238. It became the Cathedral of the new Diocese of Peterborough in 1541 and it is now known as the Cathedral Church of St Peter, St Paul and St Andrew. See more..

    - Lovely day out
Monday: 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM Spent 2-3 hours Zoos
    Shepreth Wildlife Park image
Shepreth Wildlife Park first started as a private sanctuary in 1979. WillersMill Wild Animal Sanctuary, as it was known, was a refuge for creatures great and small, including rescued foxes, hedgehogs and badgers, alongside many different species of unlicensed exotics. After care and rehabilitation many were released back into the wild, but where this was not possible, they lived out their life at the sanctuary. Today, Shepreth Wildlife Park still hosts a busy ‘Hedgehog Hospital’ but also participates in national and international breeding programmes for endangered species. It remains as committed as ever to its animals and conservation, and to educating the next generation of conservationists. There are so many different animals to meet you won't know where to start! Marvel at the sheer ‘roar' power of the tigers in the Big Cat House or spy upon the mischievous primates on Monkey Island. Getting up, close and personal with the residents of the park is what it's all about. Since opening its doors to the public in 1984, Shepreth Wildlife Park, set in natural grounds, has become one of East Anglia’s major attractions and is home to tigers, otters, monkeys, reptiles and even creepy crawlies!. There’s so much to do from daring to enter the Nocturnal House, to playing ‘pirates’ or even stroking a cockroach! The park also provides lots of unique experiences to book, from hand-feeding the ring-tailed lemurs to playing with meerkats in Meerkat Manor. It truly is a fun day out for all the family! See more..

I booked my daughter on a the “Meet the Birds” experience, and what a truely amazing experience it was! I was expecting we would be part of a group but it turned out to be a one on one experience which seems like incredible value for money. She had over an hour guided around the park getting to hold so many different birds. The member of staff guiding us was extremely knowledgeable and great with my daughter. Then after a short break and cup of tea and cake she got to take part in the flying and feeding show, holding out food for the birds to land on her and eat.
