    Kilworth House Theatre image
This should have been higher than 5 for me. It was a birthday treat for my wife and as usual I tag a long. I should say that both of my children are professional musicians, so over the years we’ve seen lots of good musicals and bad. I did not know what to expect with this show, but how surprised and happy with this show. Very very professional, the Quality of the singing and band were fantastic and I came away singing 99% of the songs we live 25 minutes from Kibworth why would anybody go to London again to see their shows, with all the costs involved ? Unfortunately lots of spare seats due to Covid worries. Once again thank you Killworth. Last point all the staff were helpful and more importantly happy. See more..

Stoneywell is one of the National Trust's smaller properties but it is packed full of character. It has an interesting family history who loved the Arts and Crafts movement, so eveident in its quirkiness both inside and out. Tucked away in the countryside you are met by a friendly member of staff in a large carpark where you are then taken to the property in a mini bus. The building itself is fabulous and is full of period furniture, furnishings and family items. There are peaceful gardens and grounds to wonder around. The staff here are friendly and very knowledgeable. Admission to Stoneywell is by bookings only on the National Trust website. See more..
  8. 5.0 Brockleby's (408 reviews)
    - Great evening at make your own pork pie
Sunday: 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM Cooking Classes • Food Tours
    Brockleby's image
Highly recommend this experience. There were 9 of us all together and Clare who took the class was a lovely lady who had a wealth of knowledge about the history of Melton Mowbray, the pies and food in general. She gave a small talk about the background of Melton and pork pies and then demonstrated how to make the pork pies in stages. We each made a pork pie which was fascinating to see how it’s done! You can also buy some of their pies to take home at very good prices so I recommend you take a big cool bag! Tips- Take a bottle of water- I found after 2 hours I was quite thirsty! It’s not the easiest place to find, especially if you were visiting in winter & it was dark. There are big signs everywhere for the garden centre though- The Grange. Just follow those. You go down a long road past some bungalows and at the end is the garden centre. The building for Brocklebys is at the bottom of the car park. Great evening. See more..

Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Bird on the Hand Falconry Experiences image
Birds of Prey Experiences - By appointment only. Up close personal encounters with amazing birds of prey that will delight and amaze and I guarantee they will have a great time. My customer comments say it all. Sorry we are not a centre where you can turn up at any time for a look around. Our experiences are pre-booked. My birds of prey days give lots of handling and up close experiences. I have small groups of up to six participants (20-30 are not uncommon elsewhere). We concentrate on being with the birds - handling, flying, feeding and finding out all those special fascinating facts. I like lots of questions and delve into my 45 years of falconry experience to answer them. I have a great location here in the countryside, marvelous birds and a generous welcome. This is a Birds of Prey Experience That Won't Disappoint - This is A Gift As Special As You Are! See more..

  14. 4.5 Bradgate Park (2.686 reviews)
    - Dog Friendly lovely country walk
    Sunday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Parks
    Bradgate Park image
Bradgate Park was first enclosed as a deer park (for hunting) in the 12th Century. Herds of Red and Fallow Deer still roam freely across the Park's 800 acres today. The Park is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its importance as a wildlife habitat and its geological interest - the 600 million year old Precambrian rocks here are some of the oldest in England. Bradgate House, built around the year 1500, was one of the first unfortified, brick-built country houses in the country and was the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey and played an important role in the English Civil War. Abandoned in the 18th Century, the house is now an evocative ruin set in a landscape that has changed little since the house's heyday. Bradgate offers visitors the chance to experience surprisingly wild and unspoilt countryside within a short travelling time of Leicester, Nottingham and Derby and is only 10 minutes from the M1 (J21 or 22). Explore the story of the Park in our new Visitor Centre, stop for a cup of tea or lunch in one of our two tearooms or just bring a picnic and sit by the river. Bradgate Park was listed in the Top 10 Parks in the UK in the 2014 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards. We stage a variety of events throughout the year including guided walks to explore the Park's history and landscape, wildlife events such as stream dipping, moth trapping and fungi forays, seasonal fairs focussing on local produce and traditional crafts as well as outdoor theatre performances and concerts in the ruins of Bradgate House. Keep an eye on our website, follow us on Facebook and Twitter or pick up a leaflet on site to keep up to date with what's on. See more..

    - Fantastic. Magic. Has inspired my son to see more theatre.
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 4:30 PM Historic Sites • History Museums
    Leicester Guildhall image
Leicester is privileged to have one of the best-preserved timber framed halls in the country dating back 600 years. The Guildhall is a historic building and the oldest building still in use in the city. It was Leicester’s first police station and between 1876 and the 1900’s and saw many unsavoury characters pass through its doors. The Great Hall itself was built in about 1390 as a meeting place for the Guild of Corpus Christi (a small but powerful group of businessmen and gentry) and it’s also believed that Shakespeare performed here during Tudor times. Today, the Guildhall is best known as an excellent performance venue, attracting acts from across the country. It’s also known as a museum where visitors can step back in time and come face to face with Crankie Gemmie and Emma Smith, two of Leicester's notorious pick-pockets who can be found lurking in the Victorian police cells. The museum is also home to the Medieval Leicester galleries and The White Rose Cafe. See more..

  24. 4.5 LCFC King Power Stadium (547 reviews)
    - A great stadium tour seeing behind the scenes
    Sunday: Arenas & Stadiums
    LCFC King Power Stadium image
We visited the LCFC stadium with 2 young girls who play for a local grassroots team. The whole tour was brilliant, the girls (age 7) had a fab time and were so excited to see the trophies, changing rooms and all the behind the scenes places we will never be lucky enough to see in a game :) they also loved being pitch side and holding the ball too before sitting in the Manager's seats! The guides were really good and I learned some random facts too. My only suggestion would be for the stadium to highlight more of the women's team achievements to inspire young girls and show that they can achieve just like the men. See more..
  25. 4.5 De Montfort Hall (436 reviews)
    - Fastlove was an amazing night out at this great venue
    Sunday: Theaters
    De Montfort Hall image
My wife and I spent last night at one of our favourite venues for entertainment, watching the absolutely amazing Fastlove. We hadn’t set foot in the Hall for many a month and it was good to be back in the comfortable chairs watching this spectacular show. Really nothing had changed in all the time we had been away – same friendly staff and great service. We’ve seen a lot of different artistes in a lot of different venues over the years, and this show was one of the first that I remember the audience getting up to boogie at the first song – that’s how good this performance was. We’ll definitely be back to watch Fastlove at DMH next year, as it’s so worth the money, and just a great, feel-good night out. See more..

    Abbey Pumping Station image
Abbey Pumping Station is Leicester's museum of science and technology, displaying the city's industrial, technological and scientific heritage. Opened in 1891, Abbey Pumping Station pumped Leicester's sewage to the treatment works at Beaumont Leys. The grand Victorian building and beautifully decorated beam engines were a cause of great civic pride, having built in the city by Gimsons. They are rare examples of Woolf compound rotative beam engines, and with all four beam engines now restored to working condition, they can be seen in steam on special event days – the only place in Britain this magnificent sight can be seen. In the 16th Century Henry VIII granted it to Edward Watson and for 450 years it has remained a family home. The pre-dominantly Tudor building, within Norman walls, has architecture, furniture and works of art from practically every century including, unusually, a remarkable collection of 20th century pictures. Twelve acres of formal and wild garden command splendid views over the surrounding countryside.
