The older two really enjoyed the experience, Khan the Harris hawk is a magnificent bird, we had a full hours flying and handling, Liz is so knowledgeable and it’s lovely to see how much she genuinely loves the birds. She answered lots of questions even the 6 year olds silly questions, she was very patient and good humoured. The birds are all well cared for and we had a good look round at the other birds after, Liz was happy to answer and give info on all those too. Thank you Liz we had a lovely walk See more..

    - Glorious, oh glorious
    Geologic Formations
    The Long Mynd image
From the youngest to the oldest; the casual and more serious walkers, one will find something here at Long Mynd. On the Queen's Jubilee holiday, the weather was dry, with bursts of glorious sunshine. We enjoyed the hilly views, the children the streams, and the resident sheep made the hills very close and accessible indeed. The varied paths showed different facets of the hills, the faces of brown and green, rugged and smooth. You feel like you can touch the clouds (but not quite). Highly recommended. See more..

Even though it was very snowy it wasn’t an issue as there was an indoor barn so the owls were still able to fly. Really enjoyable and fantastic value for money. Highly recommended. Ludlow Castle is an unusually complete range of medieval buildings with a varied history evident within its walls. We are host to a number of events that run between April and November, information of which is available at the local tourist information centre and on our website. Castle House was one of the last grand mansions built in Ludlow. - Wonderful Half Day Trip
Monday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Historic Sites • Castles
    Stokesay Castle image
You can catch the 435 bus near the Compass Inn in Ludlow, heading north. Sitting on the left side of the bus you can see Stokesay on the side of the road and request the next stop, then double back. There's a sidewalk next to the highway, then a path behind some trees, and a short stretch of unpaved country road. Not bad to get to, really. English Heritage recommends purchasing a ticket online ahead of time to make sure you get in, but it wasn't crowded. Very interesting 13th century merchant's house, granted permission to castellate. The Bishop of Hereford (Robin Hood villain) feasted in the Great Hall. Free audio guide adds to the experience, and the towers are fun to explore. Great gift shop, too, and there's room both in and out of the courtyard to eat a lunch. See more..

  24. 4.5 Carding Mill Valley (782 reviews)
    - Great place to visit
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Carding Mill Valley image
I loved my visit here. Parking costs a flat rate of £5 for the day and the car park and cafe/toilets is run by the national trust. The cafe was decent. For the walk itself I followed the path and signs to the lake and from there you can access a narrow path that takes you on a mostly level walk along the higher parts of the hills for the best views before gradually sloping you back down to the valley for the walk back. As someone who hates climbing hills, this was perfect for me as it reduced the amount of steep walking I needed to do as well as giving me access to a range of the sights at the high and low level. The area is beautiful with streams, woods and hill views. It’s peaceful and the sheep/lambs about everywhere added to the overall charm. It’s a very close drive back to church Stretton for anyone looking to stay in the area and take advantage of all the other scenery and walks on offer. See more..

    The Wrekin image
We had a Sunday morning stroll up the Wrekin, never done it before I thought it was quite steep. Took about an hour. Wear good footwear as it’s very cobbly. Parking was free at the base of the Wrekin. The cafe didn’t open until 11 so by the time we passed on the way down was still only 10:30 See more..

Having seen hundreds of bars finding one that makes me go ‘oh wow’ at first sight gets to be a rarer experience but this gem achieved it effortlessly/ The pub is in the lower hall of the Brewery Visitor’s Centre, so you can see some of the brewing apparatus. 30. 4.5 Theatre Severn (363 reviews)
    - Lovely evening spoilt but lack of planning for catering.
    Monday: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Theaters
    Theatre Severn image
We attended the proms in the park. It was a lovely evening in a calm setting. Sadly the catering was poor and only 1 bar for 1000 people unable to take in alcohol. The queues sadly spoilt the atmosphere. We felt the entry of £27.50 price was a little steep of the teenagers but they did enjoy the evening. The compact was a little out of his depth but muddled along ok. Shrewsbury male voice choir were amazing along with the soloist and the orchestra. We will go again. See more..
