  8. 4.5 Goodrich Castle (1.201 reviews)
    - Very impressed with this piece of history
Monday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Historic Sites • Castles
    Goodrich Castle image
Really impressed by this little display of History. Whilst not much of the castle remains, it’s still very easy to get a feel of what it would’ve been like hundreds of years ago. The free talking guide was informative and fun for my son to scan as we walked around. Walking through the moat, climbing the narrow stairs of the tower and heading down into the dungeon made exploring this castle really fun. There’s a well stocked gift shop with plenty of items at the price you expect for this sort of shop and the cafe served a good choice of food and drink with a nice outdoor seating area. Have become members and will definitely be coming back. See more..

    - Gorgeous property on a sunny October afternoon
    Castles
    Croft Castle and Parkland image
Croft Castle is a country house in the village of Croft, Herefordshire, England. Owned by the Croft family since 1085, the castle and estate passed out of their hands in the 18th century, before being repurchased by the family in 1923. In 1957 it was bequeathed to the National Trust. We visited on the penultimate day of October 2022 which had been overcast and wet. However as we arrived at Croft Castle car park the grey clouds cleared and blue sky and sunshine e dominated our afternoon visit. We decided first to avail ourselves of the cafe where we took some refreshments including toasted sandwiches and warmed sausage rolls - delicious and reasonably priced. Following this we had a visit to the housed and learned about its fascinating history. A stroll in the grounds following completed our most enjoyable day including nearby Berrington Hall at National Trust properties. See more..

    - Unexpectedly delightful!
Monday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Historic Sites
    Brockhampton Estate image
Wonderful visit - surprised at the mile drive from the entrance to Lower Brockhampton, but a very pretty property. A particular mention must go to John who greeted us at the door - very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, he clearly enjoys his role. The rooms were clearly interpreted across different periods, and it was good to go from when it was built, right up to the 1950s. The cafe by the house has some indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating, though the other cafe by the entrance to the estate is clearly now permanently closed following Covid. See more..

  18. 4.5 Westonbury Mill Water Gardens (296 reviews)
    - Tranquil setting & lovely cafe
    Gardens
    Westonbury Mill Water Gardens image
We visited on the opening day for 2022 and it was a lovely trip. It isn't a big place but we thought well worth it for the entry fee (£7pp). There are plenty of benches and places to sit and just relax in nature. The view and sounds of water throughout the garden is lovely. Things were just starting to grow and bloom as spring but I can just imagine it will be absolutely stunning in summer when everything is in flower. It was very quiet when we visited but actually made the trip more enjoyable as at times it was like we had the place to ourselves. Have to recommend the cafe! The choice was good and very reasonably priced. The staff/owner were super friendly and helpful in helping us out with the menu and I can't praise the chocolate and biscuit tray bake enough. It was so good I went back for another slice to takeaway!! See more..
  19. 4.5 The Weir Garden (284 reviews)
    - A beautiful spot by the river.
    Monday: 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas • Gardens
    The Weir Garden image
On this location purely by accident almost, we were staying in Hereford I just happened to open up the NationalTrust app and this was one of the suggestions within the local area. Shame that we have missed the best of the daffodils and the bluebells but still a beautiful place to spend an hour. The view of river gorgeous, there is plenty of space alongside the river for picnics and for kids to run around, the paths are quite narrow it could be quite difficult to manage large groups. See more..

    - Great cheese
    Monday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Farms
    Monkland Cheese Dairy image
A lovely small cheese shop with cafe and attached cheese making facility. The cheeses are lovely and we especially like Monkland and the Other Monk . We look forward to doing a tour but in fairness the website has clearly indicated that tours have not been available for some time and the shop was closed for all but deliveries for several months. Haven’t tried the popular cafe yet nice area to sit outside in better weather. Car park is small and an awkward shape and the car park is often very busy which is testimony to the quality on offer.
