    Great day out.
This is a great museum if you have any interest at all in planes or aviation. We spent five hours there to see everything on offer. We were there on a quiet Monday in May so there was no queues anywhere and loads of space . There are five hangers full of aircraft from Tiger moths to Concorde to a B52 bomber and everything in between. There’s also the Battle of Britain ops room and a huge building house the land warfare display. There is a huge amount of walking involved if you want to see everything as the display halls stretch the whole length of the airfield. There is however a small electric bus going backwards and forwards if you want to use it. I clocked up about 4 miles in the course of our visit. I would class this establishment as first class in almost every way. The only slight reservation I have is regarding the catering offer. I think this could do with a rethink as far as the offer is concerned. The cafe near the entrance has very limited offer and the restaurant halfway along the sight is very expensive and too pricey if your trying to feed kids as well .

Amazing exhibits but shockingly poor catering options
As a group of 4 OAP's we had pre booked our tickets, so the entry process was fairly quick. Lots of parking and very helpful staff. We all enjoyed our visit and were very impressed with the huge collection of exhibits, it took us about 4 hours to make our way round all the hangers. The only disappointment of our day was the very poor catering. The map shows 2 cafes and one restaurant. The first cafe had a very long queue right out the door, so we decided to visit the restaurant located in the middle. Unfortunately when we got there a sign outside informed us that due to staff shortages the restaurant was closed. Nearby were 2 mobile catering vans, one serving coffee & donuts (nothing else) and the other serving large hot dogs. I enquired at both for any gluten free options and was told there were none. So we ventured to the final cafe in the American hanger, to find at 2pm a choice of just 4 packets of sandwiches, 3 individual chocolate cookies, and 2 sad looking cakes. I again asked for gluten free options and was told there were none, she said they usually did have GF cakes but had sold out. Luckily she managed to find a child size packet of crisps that were GF. So, 4 cups of coffee, I small packet of crisps and 2 small limp, chocolate chip cookies cost £17.40-this is totally over priced. The museum was very busy, but as most tickets were pre booked they should have been able to stock enough food/snacks for the number of visitors expected and they should certainly be able to offer some GF savoury and sweet options, this isn't a life choice, this is for a medical condition. My advice is to take a picnic lunch with you as there are lots of out door picnic tables.
