    - A Fitting Memorial

    Jutland Memorial Park image
Sprawled across a 100m stretch of dunes behind Thyboron's fabulous Sea War Museum are twenty five jagged three metre high granite slabs each bear the name of a German or British ship that was sunk on the night of 31 May/1 June 1916. A twenty sixth remembers the six hundred men killed on ships that survived the battle. Next to each slab are groups of tall white stone figures which one day will number 8645 – the official death toll for the battle. The park is the brainchild of Danish sculptor, Paul Cederdorff and it seems appropriate that this memorial to such an epic fight to he death between England and Germany should be situated on neutral ground. The park is a powerful and beautiful to the men who gave their lives for their respective countries on that awful night. See more..

    - Fun for kids and adults
    Speciality Museums
    Aalborg Forsvars Og Garnisonsmuseum image
We are 3 adults with 2 kids of 6 and 4.5 years old. We were all happy even though none of us knows much about military nor war. Visitors can touch and sit and clim everything unless otherwise stated. The collection was massive and impressive, ranging from transport to guns to missiles to all kinds of equipments I don’t even recall what they are called anymore. In the courtyard, there were several tanks and military vehicles visitors can climb in. Kids loved the paddles cars in the spacious courtyard. We spent about 2 hours there. If we had brought lunch, we could have easily spent more time there. They offer combi tickets with the Springeren (submarine) Maritime museum. Great savings. Aalborg street food hall is just 1km walk away, which is 400m away from the Springeren maritime museum. Convenient to visit both on same day. See more..

Very interesting museum about life in the coal camp. It's an on site museum that lets you walk around outside and see some of the equipment used and inside the tiny houses were the workers lived. The entrance fee is like 7 dollars or 40 kr. If you really want to get something out of your visit: book a guide! It's around 75$ or 500kr for a two hours tour, including a drive around the area. Well worth it! You can buy the odd sweet but if you plan on spending a day in the area, bring food and drinks. Clean toilet facilities. See more..

    - Nice place to air out
    Forests
    Moesgard Forrest image
After a week in the office and the city I was yearning for a place to stretch my legs and air out a bit. The beach itself is rather narrow and covered in sea weed. The forest itself is varied with pine, beech and alder. In the middle there's the old water mill, bit expensive but service is good and the carrot cake is excellent. If you do want to explore, put openmap on your phone and preload the maps of the area. Signs in the forest are non existent except to indicate if you can ride a horse or a bike somewhere. All in all I spend 5 hours there and loved it! See more..

I absolutely recommend to buy tickets for the train ride amongst animals. We as a family got a whole bread for hand feeding, amazing. Can't remember what it costs, but I think it was a bit less than a hundred danish krones per person and pluss thirty for the train ride. See more..
