    Vikingemuseet Lindholm Høje image
For more than 600 years – up until around the year 1000 AD – people were buried at Lindholm Høje. At each of the around 700 cremation graves from the Iron and Viking Ages, the dead body was burnt on location, and the graves were marked by stone circles. These stone circles are still visible in the landscape in one of Denmark’s best preserved ancient monuments. The story about the people who lived and died here is told inside the museum, which also houses an exhibition about ancient times in the Limfjorden area. The museum has a well-stocked shop and a café with lunch dishes, cakes and snacks. See more..

    Jutland Memorial Park image
Sprawled across a 100m stretch of dunes behind Thyboron's fabulous Sea War Museum are twenty five jagged three metre high granite slabs each bear the name of a German or British ship that was sunk on the night of 31 May/1 June 1916. A twenty sixth remembers the six hundred men killed on ships that survived the battle. Next to each slab are groups of tall white stone figures which one day will number 8645 – the official death toll for the battle. The park is the brainchild of Danish sculptor, Paul Cederdorff and it seems appropriate that this memorial to such an epic fight to he death between England and Germany should be situated on neutral ground. The park is a powerful and beautiful to the men who gave their lives for their respective countries on that awful night. See more..

    Tranebjerg Kirke image
See more..
