3.5Karez System(146 reviews) - Another china engineering marvel Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water • Points of Interest & Landmarks
rated the 3rd marvel after Great Wall n Grand Canal, this describe how a desert region can survive for the past 3000 years. Water from the snow capped mountains were directed through thousand miles of man made underground tunnels. Wells n tunnels were dug all the way from melting mountains to irrigate the crops at the desert lowlands. Really interesting n yet not well published like the Great Wall. This place is exceptionally hot in summer and you could see beds on rooftops. Cooler to sleep on rooftops. See more..

I am awed, speechless. No words can describe the beauty of the lake during winter month. I feel so small and ugly standing next to this magnificent beauty. It’s Heaven on Earth. During this month of January, temperature falls below -21 degrees. See more..
5.0Sailimu Lake(87 reviews) - Stay with Kazakh Nomads Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Bodies of Water
We went in beginning of July and stayed overnight with Kazakh Nomads in their authentic yurt after negotiating a price of 120rmb including a horse ride. The lake and grassland was beautiful but too bad it is next to the highway. (But this made it accessible to us). At night they ask if we would join for dinner with the family and we had a delicious meal of mutton and rice and lots and lots of yak tea. We were asked to pay what we feel like to the mother. We had good conversations about their life and they were very open. (They speak Chinese and Kazakh, no English) At night it was very cold and our private yurt was heated by sheep poop (which didn't smell bad). There is no facilities or showers or toilets. Everything is done behind some trees far off in the distance or the open grassland. It was the most memorable day in my travels throughout China, I highly recommend staying the night.See more..

According to the tourist book, there should be over 10 thousands of swan here in the lake. When we arrived at the Bayinbuluke, our guide told us not in a season. So we only saw a few swan, but people are disturbing them by staying very close to the swan and take pictures.See more..

4.0Peacock River(10 reviews) - Beautiful relaxing stroll Bodies of Water
Stumbled across this when wandering around the city and was blown away by how well planned this river walk is. It's relaxing and a great place to enjoy nature and people watch. There were even two waterfalls which we loved (albeit man-made).We kept following the river into the Uyghur section which included a couple of interesting mosques and some dilapidated apartment buildings. Highly recommend.See more..
As I went around seeing the sites in Hotan and Kuche, I couldn't believe that no other foreigners were there. Hotan is where Buddhism first arrived in China, it is where Jade is still found in the river, there are ruins all over the place, plus it is one of the only places you can go camel riding for more than 30 minutes at a time. It is a natural environment. There are things out there that haven't been discovered yet. The museums are great, and they are still practicing some of the crafts that made the silk road great. It is well worth seeing. I did a day tour with Kurban, who runs southernsilkroadtours and he was excellent. He can also do camel trekking and tours of other areas. He is a great find. See more..
3.5Baiyu River(6 reviews) - BAIYU RIVER, HOTAN (HETIAN), XIJIANG Sunday: 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM Bodies of Water
BAIYU RIVER, HOTAN (HETIAN), XIJIANG is considered as one of the main rivers in HOTAN, The water of the river likely comes from the KUNLUN MOUNTAIN, one of the main mountain range in XIJIANG. The river (YU LONG HO meaning Jade Dragon River in Chinese) also well known for the HOTAN Jade; and sadly to say it has been over excavated and one can see pot holes all over the place. Nothing much to see here and the place is barren and void of visitors.See more..
4.5Kalakule Lake(4 reviews) - Landscape you want to touch... Sunday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM Bodies of Water
Don't get discouraged if you think it is far away, if you find troublesome to get there, if you are tired with bumpy road and dust is all over your face ... When you reach it, you can experience with your all senses. You can see all the colours of snow, sky and water. Experience how it tickles from frost when you try to swim in the lake. And then how your skin is sunburnt despite you are cold. Try to run around the lake or dance in the middle of nowhere and see how difficult it is to breathe. Get up early for a sunrise. You will not regret it. If you are nature lover you would love it. For me it was the best place in China to camp there and take a rest from noisy and crowdy cities.See more..
3.5Dragon Pond(4 reviews) - Beautiful green lake Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Bodies of Water
This is not our destination, but we pass by it on the way. Beautiful. There are small and big dragon ponds. But our driver could only make a stop at the big dragon pond. so we took some pictures and carried on our journey. There are few villagers' house provide accommodation and horse renting. It's a good idea to do the horse riding up to the mountain.See more..

4.5Baisha Lake(3 reviews) - Ok if you like short hike and within one hour of the area. Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water
It was about 2 hours (170km) from Buerjin (Burqin). We saw a lot of sand lizard. Might be more fun if you wander off trial (not sure whether it is permitted but at the time there was no one there) (my GPS reads 48.351, 85.7485 430m. ASL)See more..
4.0Kule Lake(1 review) - Schön und kalt Bodies of Water
4.0Shenhong Square(1 review) - Central park area Spent < 1 hour Bodies of Water • Parks
Shenhong Square is in the central park area of Turpan. It is a pleasant walking area which is walking distance from many other attractions. The lake is probably the main attraction here, as it is a great way to take a break from the heat. We walked to the park from our hostel which was located nearby. Other nearby attractions include the Turpan Museum and Qingnian Road Pedestrian Street.See more..
