Flowing dragon water

Dam made into a beautiful tourist attraction. The dragon heads, or mouths thereof, provide a constant flow of dragon water, or so called by some locals.

    This waterway is lovely.
This man made canal runs about 8km through the middle of Karamay centre. It originates at 9 Dragon Park and flows down to the big reservoir on the south east edge of town. It has about 20 bridges spanning it, all different. At about the middle of it's journey light and water shows are well worth checking out in the evening. Trees, flowers sand pathways run along its entirety. Restaurants, bars and shops are along side it near its centre. Boat trips along the canal are also worthwhile, especially in the evening. It is particularly beautiful from late spring till late autumn.

    Boat trip on Kelamayi River
Over the last few years the local government seem to have invested some money in turning the river into a tourist attraction. Many new bridges have been built a walking promenade was created. In the evening there is a music/fountain/light show. We took the kids on one of the boat trip which takes about 30 minutes and goes under the various bridges. All the seats in the boat faced inwards and there was no outdoor area. Found this a little strange. Would recommend not taking the boat trip but just watch the show from the river bank. There are very little lights on the river bank so hold onto to your kids if you go there when its dark as you might not find them again with all the pople.
