Breathtaking Kanas Lake in North Xinjiang
Our wonderful trip to Kanas Lake Geopark began when we booked a 4D/3N package from CYTS in Urumqi. It was a long 12 hour coach ride first to Bu'erqing for an overnight stay. The next morning, we had another 4 hours of travel to get to Kanas Lake Geopark. The scenery along the way was spectacular - in fact, we were rather surprised to see snow-capped mountains. Another trip highlight was an optional tour to Hemu village, about 2 hour's drive from Kanas Lake. Ok...enough said. Let the pictures taken at these scenic places speak for themselves !

The last frontier...
Adventuring into Kanas Xinjiang was a once in a lifetime experience... I could never believe that this was actually in China. The colors of the lakes, the mountains and the sheer pure beauty of nature is right at your doorsteps.. I was told that Xinjiang is three times the size of France so there is a lot of places to visit while you are there.. Kanas boasts as one of the most beautiful places in Xinjiang and they were absolutely right. I visited in Aug/Sept 2017 and the temperature is cold in the morning and it will get really warm around 1pm to 3 pm. The temperature will cool down towards the evening and the sun sets at 9:30pm while I was there. It's a land of untouched beauty and I applaud the Chinese government for keeping this place full of clean fresh air and minimize pollution. Be there and be awed!!
