    - A Superb Experience

My wife and I scheduled our flight out of Kashgar in the late afternoon just so we could experience the Livestock Market. It is well worth the experience to see a real local cultural activity. All sorts of animals being sold and there is lots of good food to be had. Try the fresh noodles, you will not be disappointed. See more..

Many kind of food, drinks and desserts are selling here. Some of them you may not know the ingredient. And need a lot of bravery to eat them. Some food just like a food served in an old-famous tv program " Fear Factor". But it is part of the culture. So enjoy it! See more..
  3. 4.0 Handicraft Street (18 reviews)
    - Beautiful historic street

    Handicraft Street image
The handicraft street is located within the 'rebuilt' old town of Kashgar. Yes, sadly, the architecture is no longer the original and there is a tacky sign stating "Old Town". There are ID checks going into and out of old town. However, the handicraft street is still full of locals and is extremely interesting to see. The shop keepers are generally all very friendly. You can still buy very authentic items, although, I am not sure if the prices are inflated - I believe the same item will be cheaper in the bazaar nearby. Food is just amazing in Kashgar - make sure you pick up some freshly made naan when you see them. See more..
  4. 4.5 Hetian Nightly Market (9 reviews)
    - Great local food!
Spent 1-2 hours Flea & Street Markets
    Hetian Nightly Market image
This night market at the corner Tayani S Road and S Ring Road is in a long hall with red letters above the security guarded entrance. Inside there are probably hundreds of stalls offering all kinds of local food and drinks (including cold beer etc). It's easy to see what is offered, and easy to select. I can recommend the lamb skewers and scallion pancakes. You can buy different food and drinks from multiple outlets and then sit and eat at one of the tables behind the shops. It's great to get in contact with the very friendly local people. It's bustling and busy but very friendly and safe and it get's quieter after 9pm (on a weekday) and it's easy to get a table. In the middle of the hall the is a stage playing very loud music and some dance shows. See more..
  5. 3.5 Turpan Bazaar (7 reviews)
    - Local Bazaar

    Turpan Bazaar image
Small Bazaar centrally located in Turpan. This is very much a working market for the local Uyghur population, large entrance but soon becomes a maze of alleys packed full of locals buying clothes, household goods, carpets, food, toys and everything else under the sun. The meat section is worth seeing, but not for the squeamish !!! In front of the main entrance is a colourful "jumble" of fresh fruit vendors, we picked up some cheap fruit. Associated with / next to the bazaar is a partially covered street with tables and chairs and lined with small and cheap stalls selling cooked foods, great smells and sights indeed. Well worth a 30min look around if only to get a taste of how the locals live, A great place to watch the locals. See more..
