  1. 3.5 Id Kah Mosque (174 reviews)
    - Must See Landmark in Kashgar
Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Religious Sites
    Id Kah Mosque image
The Id Kah Mosque is a famous landmark in Kashgar. It is located next one of the main entrances to the "Old Town/Ancient City" area. In front the Mosque is a very large public square area where people leisurely walk through and enjoy the surroundings. The Mosque is nicely maintained and is clean. Upon entering the Mosque (fee required on entrance for tourists), the grounds area is lovely - many tall trees providing nice shade from the sun. Inside the Mosque structure, the design is quite simple and the area is clean. While this Mosque is not as elaborate so others around the world, it is still a nice place to visit. This Mosque is still actively being used for services in the evening hours and weekends. Nice place to visit and enjoy the scenery. See more..
  2. 4.0 Abakh Hoja Tomb (158 reviews)
    - Beyond expectations- beautiful architecture

    Abakh Hoja Tomb image
The Apakh Hoja masoleum was amazing. At entrance at 10:30 am is an Uighur show, included in ticket. I easily took a cheap taxi here from my hotel in Kashgar. The show was a little touristy and there are areas that feel touristy BUT.. the actual mosque and masoleum architecture is amazing!!! It was built in 1640 and is the most magnificent example of Uighur Islamic architecture in the region. I spent about two hours wandering the complex and it wasn’t too crowded, which is also nice. Tip: I accidentally paid a price including another show at the end which was not necessary as there is the included show at beginning as well. See more..
  3. 3.5 Emin Minaret (Su Gong Ta) (116 reviews)
    - Lovely Minaret and Mosque
Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Religious Sites
Emin Minaret (Su Gong Ta) image
While we were touring the sites in Turpan, one nice site to visit is the Emin Minaret. According to Wikipedia, this Minaret is 44 meters (144 ft.) in height and it the tallest Minaret in China. Adjacent to the Minaret, is a Uyghur (Muslim) Mosque structure. The mosque interior is nothing fancy - just plain and simple. The two structures - Minaret and Mosque - are nice looking structures together and is an interesting place to visit. The surrounding area and the structures themselves are well maintained and clean. - Worth the visit

    Subashi Gucheng Temple image
I learned the history of the temple site as a "women kingdom", but there is no local guide at the site. So we just walked around the area, with only minimal explanation, so we didn't enjoy much. I am sure it will be very interesting if someone can explain what are the buildings. There is a little museum next to the site, but it has only pictures, almost no value to go in. See more..

But once you enter the cave, you can only use cellphone to take picture with the flash. There are lockers for you to place all your belongings including water bottles. There are security guide in front of the entrance, no bags can be allowed to bring in. Please hire a local guide for the explanation, they got the key and they would open the door of the cave to let you in and then explain the remaining items and pictures. Imam Asim's Tomb image
This is a little difficult to find but if you take the number five bus and ask to be let off near Jiya ( the atlas silk village) you then can hitch a lift to the Tomb. Thursday's is best or any time in May when everyone converges on it. You see all kinds of people stepped in Islamic Sufism and folk beliefs coming to slaughter chickens and appease the various spirits. Some are terrified by demonic possession, some ask for children or wives or husbands. Some come to curse family members. Every spectrum of Islamic belief is here. It is a bleak and sandy place but interesting if you want to find out more about what makes the people tick in this far away desert city of Xinjiang Me a See more..

Amannishahan was the Concubine of a Yarkand Khan and is buried in the general "Tombs of the Yarkand Khans" complex. She is memorable for having pulled together in one place some 340 Uigher folk songs, dances, and other music in a written format before it was lost to the ages. See more..
  15. 4.0 Altyn Mosque (1 review)
    - One of the sights no to miss on the square
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Monuments & Statues
    Altyn Mosque image
The Altyn Mosque ( 阿爾丁清真寺;) is a mosque in Yarkand. The mosque is located (N 38.415600 E 77.257900) on the square – the Al Tun Historical and Cultural plaza - where you also find the Mausoleum of Amannisa Khan and the photogenic City palace of Yarkand. The mosque is located on the east side of the A Le Tun road, about 200 meters north of the crossing of Lao Cheng road. Beyond the mosque is a cemetery housing the tombs of the Khans of Yarkand. Because we visited Yarkand late in the afternoon, the mosque was closed and we only have seen the exterior. The painted ceilings, we unfortunately couldn’t see. A visit to the mosque is a must see because it is one of the nice buildings around the square; the mosque and those other buildings form to my opinion the highlight of Yarkand. See more..
