-Great playground
Playgrounds
A little hard to find...we came from northbound 202, onto weldin rd and it is immediately on your right, kind of hard to see from the road, if you get to a roundabout you've gone too far. Lots of things to climb on, slide down, run, and touch. Mostly sunny with some shaded areas near benches and a couple of places on the playground. Mostly fenced in, just doesn't have a gate at the front but otherwise fenced in and is very far from road traffic. Bathrooms (male/female/family) located just across from the playground next to a picnic pavilion. Vending machines available. Also plenty of room for bikes and scooters. See more..

Are you into ancestry? Are you looking for records of Births, Death, Marriages, Land grants or transfers that took place in Delaware? If your answer to this question is Yes, then you have come to the right place. I have been very successful at finding the missing links to my family ancestry at the Delaware Public Archives. They have a library of books and you can do your research through their card index system which is organized by category. Research and find the microfiche index numbers and view the film on one of many viewing machines. You can also print out your findings or be sure and bring a usb thumb drive and save the image to the drive. If you don't have a thumb drive you can purchase one from them at a nominal price. The service is free and you only pay for the copies that you make. They even offer scheduled research classes which you can learn how to perform more effective research techniques. See more..

- 4.5 Lightship Overfalls (97 reviews)
-Nice stop with children or history buffs
Speciality Museums
While touring around Lewes, DE today, I came upon the Lightship Overfalls at Canalfront Park. The Lightship Overfalls was open for touring, however, I decided not to tour today as there were several people on the ship. I walked around Canalfront Park and read about the ship. The park has a nice children’s playground, canoe and kayak launch as well as plenty of boats anchored. Nice little quiet park on the bay. See more..
- 4.5 Bellevue State Park (95 reviews)
-Summer tradition continues
State Parks • Parks
A Park For All Seasons Bellevue Hall mansion commands a grand view of this historic estate, and its present form reflects alterations made by William du Pont, Jr. Mr. du Pont surrounded his home with the finest facilities: tennis courts, equestrian stables, gardens, and a picturesque pond, amid woodlands and fields overlooking the Delaware River. The park was acquired by the State of Delaware in 1976. The Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation has retained the historic charm of Bellevue while providing many opportunities for recreation. Walking and jogging are popular activities at any time of the year. A 1-1/8 mile fitness track circles a catch-and-release fishing pond while the nearby exercise trail offers a refreshing workout. Hiking trails allow you to explore other parts of the estate. If you prefer cycling, both paved and unpaved paths lead you on a leisurely tour. A popular spot for picnics, weddings and get-togethers. - 4.5 Dutch Country Farmers Market (92 reviews)
-Fisher's Meat Market & PIG Roasts
Saturday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Flea & Street Markets
I have been using Fisher's Meat Market inside the Farmers Market for years. I have always appreciated the quality of their meats and hospitality of their staff. When the COVID19 pandemic hit, Fisher's Meat Market became a true blessing. I called ahead and placed my meat order with Fisher's and paid ahead. I simply pulled up to the curb, phoned the market and my meats were delivered to my trunk. I utilized this service throughout the entire pandemic until they discontinued it recently. Fisher's meat not only provided a very helpful and safe way for me to get my meats during the pandemic, but quality meats superior to the grocery store. I do not shop anywhere else for my ground beef. Theirs is top notch. Prices have gone up over the past year, but I still continue to buy. I would highly recommend Fisher's Meats inside the Dutch Country Farmer's Market. Note: PIG ROASTS are held on select weekends throughout the Spring, Summer and early Fall. It is worth it IF you are in the area. See more..

- 4.5 Rockwood Park & Museum (87 reviews)
-So Much More Than Expected
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Historic Sites • History Museums
I have been on many historic house tours, but this one was much more than I expected, and better than the usual tour. The unique thing about this house is that there is so much original furniture and family belongings still in place. You get the feeling that you are a guest of the family rather than just on a tour. The museum staff have used these items to tell a unique story. Also, on the East Coast of the US you get worn out with colonial house tours, and Rockwood Museum gives you an opportunity to experience a completely different era. Not only is the inside of the house a good experience, but the grounds are lovely and an attraction in their own right. The GPS enabled garden tour adds much to the interpretation of the setting. Our group of four thoroughly enjoyed the Lewes Historical Tour "Introduction to Lewes: A Maritime Destination" led by the volunteer Jack who was extremely knowledgeable about Delaware's early American history. As an unexpected bonus, we were able to sit down in the tavern on the Historical Society's campus and listen to volunteer "tavern keeper" Bill Hicks' lively presentation on the tavern's history and the everyday drinks and economic practices which made the Tavern such a thriving enterprise in early Lewes' history. We have been coming to Bethany since I was little, now that we have a little one, I am always looking for educational/fun activities... This place was absolutely wonderful! My daughter had a great time feeding the turtles, exploring with her butterfly net and playing on the playground. You could easily spend 2-3 hours here and there are beautiful picnic tables throughout the park. The trail out to the marshes is handicap accessible and totally worth the walk! Not far. Also a couple geocaches nearby if you are into that! The staff was wonderful, friendly and very kind to my curious (touching everything) toddler. - 4.5 Rockford Park & Tower (58 reviews)
-Great Community Space and Dog Park
Parks
This park is a great community space. We've been here in the past for community rallies for BLM, outdoor concerts put on by the city, and for the annual Flower Market. This is a great, safe place to walk after work and enjoy the view across the river from along the stone wall at the far end. During the Flower Market and during some Sunday afternoons, they have the tower open to climb. We did so during the Flower Market and it was a fun, classic Wilmington experience. You can see for miles from the top. We also love coming to the dog park here. It's a nice open space and allows the dogs to run but also have their space unlike other parks that are a smaller fenced in area that can sometimes cause aggressive dog behaviors. This place is historical but also continues to serve the community today. Well worth a visit on a nice day, especially a day when the tower is open for climbing. See more..
