    DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum image
This is one of the best museums I have ever been to and I have travelled to some of the best museums around the world. It is small but mighty, particularly if you live within a few states of Delaware as it will speak to you on a personal level. One factor that made our visit so exceptional was that the owner was on site. The diverse and exquisite exhibits held their own, but with the owner on site to point out special items and provide background stories added priceless dimension to items that might have otherwise been passed with glancing interest. Do not miss this museum. It is a true gem. See more..

While touring around Lewes, DE today, I came upon the Lightship Overfalls at Canalfront Park. The Lightship Overfalls was open for touring, however, I decided not to tour today as there were several people on the ship. I walked around Canalfront Park and read about the ship. We were greated at opening1000 by the museum curator who gave us a guided tour from Indian, Dutch, and English settlers, pre World War One, World War II, to the 1950s, 70s, through present day. The museum was a easy half hour visit with historical displays for kids to adults. Well worth the walk and time. If you enjoy local history this is a must stop. The Kalmar Nyckel is docked in Provincetown while I'm here every year it seems. This year I decided to go on a sailing excursion. We had the most amazing time! When given the chance to work with the crew, I jumped at it. I joined the crew raising and trimming the sails. It was hard but exhilarating work. It was much more affordable than I thought it would be. $60/adult for a 3 hour sail. If toy are wherever they are docked, go! It's worth it See more..

Flying in the B-25 Panchito was truly an unforgettable experience. Bill, who helped me organize this gift for my husband was amazing, and made everything he could to accommodate us. Every crew member was beyond nice and made sure we had a great experience. They are all volunteers who are passionate about aviation, and they spent time to tell us about the aircraft, the association and any thing we asked about. The gift was for my husband who is an aviation fan, he loved it. I loved it too and I’m so glad I took a ride as well. The aircraft is a piece of history and it’s genuinely a fabulous experience. We highly recommend it for any one looking for a unique flying experience!! See more..

We had not expected the Museum to be there; our plan was just to walk to the Martello Tower just to have a look. Finding that it included a museum was a real treat. Although small, the museum included an extensive and varied collection of artefacts; it is well worth the visit which took us about 2 hours to enjoy. The staff were very friendly and were helpful and informative. Well worth the relatively small admission charge. See more..

Less than five minutes from the center of Hockessin, the Marshall Steam Museum at Auburn Heights offers visitors a chance to step back in time and experience life at the dawn of the automotive age. The now-museum was built by T. Clarence Marshall in 1947 to house his growing collection of antique automobiles. Today, visitors can enjoy the many treasures at Auburn Heights thanks to the generosity and vision of Clarence's son, Tom, and his wife, Ruth. In 2008, they gifted to Delaware State Parks the estate land and buildings, including a beautiful 1897 Queen Anne mansion that was the Marshall home, while donating to the Friends of Auburn Heights, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, the extraordinary vehicles of the Marshall collection. The museum features the world's largest operating collection of Stanley steam cars, a 1916 electric car, and two 1930s Packards, in addition to the Auburn Valley Railroad with its 1/8th-size coal-fired steam trains that circle the property. Iron Hill Science Center gave my class an excellent experience with hands-on activities and a very interesting rocks & minerals lesson. They allowed the group to dig with picks to mine iron ore and even bring a small rock sample home. The rocks & minerals lesson/demonstration showed my class many beautiful examples of the 3 classes of rocks as well as many minerals. To finish the trip, my class enjoyed the wildlife and rock displays as well as the gift shop. We will return this next year as well. Thank you Iron Hill Science Center staff for a friendly, positive learning experience for our Providence Christian Academy students. Mrs. Rash-5th grade See more..

This museum is very, very small. However, they are in the process of expanding since they have received several grants. They are in the process of building a second structure to accommodate more displays. . . .at the moment there is a long stairway to get to it; I am not sure if there will be handicapped accommodations when the building is completed. There are displays of the "olden" days of Bowers Beach and videos that tell the history of the area. . . fishing, clamming, summer resort, etc. We visited on a day that they were having a hot dog fundraiser so we got some really good hot dogs on top of learning about the area. We would like to go back after they finish construction to see what other See more..
