Phangan Arena is the only place in Koh Phangan where you can play football (soccer for americans), Volleyball, Tenis, Basketball or even work out in their gym. It is run by French guys who come out and play football with the guest almost every day. The football pitch is perfect for a 7-a-side games and it is the best quality. The staff is always super helpful, whether you want to drink your beer by the pool side (super cool pool) or, around the premises. Phangan Arena is located in Ban Tai, literally 4 minutes drive from Thongsala, where you arrive by boat. If you travel with friends and also want to play sports, this IS THE PLACE to be! We took a boat to Bottle Beach from Chaloklum Beach round trip for about 375 baht. The beach wasn't very crowded when we arrived. We took the hike up to the view point. Be sure to prepare yourself for the hike, the path is paved but it is still ropy and slippery. Don't forget water/snacks. The hike is worth it. The beach itself is clean peaceful. We order a few drinks out of the cafe, about 60 baht for a pineapple shake. The water was a bit rough for snorkeling this day but we were able to swim. Beautiful, stunning rustic and utterly breathtaking beach. We walked round from red pearl resort, well in fact we ran/walked first one morning, saw monkeys in the trees along the road on the way and had the whole beach to ourselves first thing. We then later took the kids during the day - we had lunch at the little bungalows restaurant/bar and was served by a charming, very young French boy - the food was lovely and great value and a lovely breeze in the restaurant made it very comfortable after the heat of the beach. Beautiful beach and very soft sand to go barefoot on. Apart from Zen Beach, this is one of my other favorite beaches to be on. Especially when it’s not full moon party time. Though the full moon party can be fun once in a while too. it’s very family friendly by the way if you are curious about it and want to see it. Walk past the resort right to the end of the beach for peace and quiet. Around the resort it’s obviously full of that ilk of people so if your a traveller, walk past them and enjoy the beach further down where there is a chilled bar. If you fancy the nudist beach you can walk through the rocks to a private beach. The snorkelling is not great here but it’s positioned greatly for the morning sun unlike some other beaches. After the disappointing baan tai beach, I really wanted to see something close to the Thai beaches everyone raves about and this was close to that. Very pictoresque, still lined with resort and bungalows bu these were discretely hidden behind the trees. It's April so I wasn't expecting much in terms of swimming due to low tide. This water was okay, still very shallow bus somewhat swimmable. No 100% plastic free but pleasantly clean. There were some families here and there but surely not crowded. If you walk to the most southern part there you can get access to a more secluded small beach but there were nudists there so I didn't go. See more..

The beach area is big enough with an option of renting umbrellas and deck chairs. There’s a few restaurants here with an array of different cuisines.
