Maeklong Railway Market (Talad Rom Hub) image
In the morning, the train arrives at the station at 1110 and departs at 1130. We reached about an hour earlier to walk around the railway market. There are many local products such as live seafood including catfish, and vegetables. There are also stores that sell souvenirs. It can get quite squeezy as the railway track is narrow. About 30 minutes before the train arrived, we went to a Punjung cafe to buy drinks. When the train arrived, the staff allowed us to stand on the cafe chairs! So we had an unobstructed view as the train passed by! See more..

    - EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE AT THE FLOATING MARKET
    Tuesday: Flea & Street Markets
    Amphawa Floating Market image
Now that COVID has subsided, this market is booming again. You have the option of visiting vendors along the pathways around the canal, or taking a boat tour to visit vendors only reachable by boat. A fascinating part of the boat tour was the area where people still live on the canals. At previous times, the canals were the only way of transportation. Along, the old main canal, we were shown the old business area, with banks and movie theatre, as well as many homes, some still in use, some abandoned. Prices with the vendors are good, and there is a huge variety of items and food for sale. Take a picture with a python. Enjoy live music. See more..

I was here like I was seven and everywhere was still a country. - They Do Magic

    Pinsuwan Benjarong image
If you have ever wondered how the Thai people create their beautiful porcelain jars and dishes, here is your chance to see first hand. This small, family owned business creates some of the best benjarong in Thailand. The name benjarong means 5 colors, although these artistic creations typically range from 3 to 8 colors. At P. Ben, as it's called, you can actually stand beside the painters, watch them work, and even take still photographs. (Videos are not permitted.) But be advised that you'll have to take your shoes off, and they usually shut down from 12 to 1 pm so all their employees can enjoy lunch. Their exquisite work is all done by hand, and the painters are actually amazing artists. In 2003, P. Ben was selected to make all the 12 place settings of benjarong dinnerware that were presented to the Asia Pacific heads of state attending APEC 2003 in Bangkok. At that time, if you wished to order their products, the lead time was from 9 to 12 months. And they weren't even advertising!! Today, the wait for orders is much shorter, and they have a small showroom with some items for sale. Whenever we have visitors from overseas, we invariably bring them to P. Ben, and, without exception, they enjoyed the visit and were amazed by these wonderful creations. Note that the Amphawa floating market, and King Rama II Memorial Park are both nearby, so you can get a "3 for 1" trip. See more..

See more..
