- 5.0 Na Satta Thai (8 reviews)
-well groomed history and cultural park
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Walking Areas
Entrance fee is 200 baht per person, but worth it IMHO, but be prepared to walk and walk and walk some more! The first portion is an indoor two-floor museum of well-known Thai scholars and musicians; they even managed to toss in Ho Chi Minh and a trio of Chinese leaders. Second floor is devoted to the Queen Mother; you’ll be sure to learn something about her that you didn’t know before; e.g. she liked to do cross-stitch and cook. Exiting the building you begin your trek. It’s gonna take you well over an hour to walk the walk. For those with a desire to ‘join history’ there is a place to rent a traditional Thai outfit as you exit the museum bldg. There are many different types of attractions. They start with two historical Buddha images, then a series of regional Thai-style houses each containing statues of 3-4 revered monks from that region. A general comment here: the grounds are beautifully landscaped and well-kept. There are informative signs and markers to explain (in Thai and English) what you are about to see. Even on a hot day (when is it NOT hot in Thailand?) the trees and covered walkways keep you out of the sun. I’ll not provide a guided tour, just let it be said that there is a lot to see and photograph. Refreshment stands and toilets are liberally spaced throughout the park. Staff are waiting along the route to answer questions and add an in depth explanation to the various attractions. It’s also IMHO a great place for children to learn about Thai culture and history. He haven't been inside the temple, but the place was quite interesting. We had to drive through horde of monkeys. They were everywhere. Dangling on the trees, carrying their babies under their bodies, sitting and staring at our car, etc. However on the temple group and inside the cave, were only a few. They didn't bother us.
