The most AMAZING experience. If you are wanting an immersive, ethical elephant experience this is your place. The elephants are well treated, and it’s very obvious to see and tell. Much more intimate setting without the large crowds, allowing for an even more memorable time. Although off the beaten path, it is worth the extra time to travel here, I promise! Staff is also VERY friendly, which is always an added bonus to the elephants. Overall a fantastic time and will be telling all about it! See more..

My family with 2 kids (Age 11 and 10) booked a biking and kayak trip with CDR today. Dave (the operator) and his team were great. Firstly, in ensuring safety came first starting from the pre ride brief. Subsequently during the bike ride, a "safety van" tagged along at the meeting points to make sure that everything went smoothly. The Bike experience took us to the back roads, villages, and farmlands which we wouldn't have seen. The kayak part of the journey will also peaceful and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to try something different. See more..

    Elephant Nature Park image
My boyfriend and I visited this rescue center on 16-17 March 2016 and it was amazing! Great team that really loves elephants and knows everything about them. Elephants are free, without any chains or ropes, they are just walking and eating and visitors can walk and bath / feed them. It was unforgettable experience! We were here 2 days and have delicious vegan food especially for us (by default all food is vegetarian). Many thanx to people who take care about elephants in Thailand! And yes, don't ride and don't go to cruel shows with animals, it's terrible ;( See more..

    - Erawan Waterfall

    Erawan Waterfalls image
Erawan Waterfall is a cool place, I've been to many times and still love the nature of it. When you go, you may pay an entrance fee, but it's worth the price. There are places to swim. From the 1st floor to the 7th level waterfall The 7th floor might be a bit tiring because it's tall, but they have stairs. The 7th floor is where the water is clear, emerald green. At this park, it is forbidden to bring glass items, but plastic ones. but must help to maintain cleanliness There are chip shirts to borrow, food for sale or we can bring in ourselves. One time I went with a big family and it was the funniest time back then. I would be able to go to a large family again. I would be very happy. See more..

    The Thailand-Burma Railway Centre image
The museum provides the most researched and comprehensive information about the Death Railway and the POW camps with excellent displays including a range of memorabilia from POWs. The centre also provided us with a 4 day tour of the railway as far as the Three Pagodas on the Myanmar border. The tour was personalised to cover all the camps and sections where my father was a POW with extensive information on all the places we visited. Sincere thanks to the team at TBRC who provide such an outstanding service in sharing their wealth of knowledge with visitors and for keeping the memory of all the POWs alive. See more..

Visiting the Death Railway museum before this, I was able to fully appreciate the experience of riding this train and being on the train tracks, knowing the hardships and sufferings from the POWs during WWII. The train conductors were friendly and patient too! See more..
  11. 4.5 Erawan National Park (385 reviews)
    - Stunning waterfalls with a free spa treatment
Spent More than 3 hours National Parks
    Erawan National Park image
This park is stunning. I only did 2 waterfalls because I was having so much fun with the little fish eating the dead skin off my feet at the 2nd one. I hired a motorbike and drove myself. Gosh it was a long drive, took me about 1.5 hours each way. It was incredibly easy to get there, literally one road until the very end when you turn into the park. I arrived at 2:30pm (they close at 4:30pm) it so wasn’t enough time. I wish I had made a whole day of it and did all of the waterfalls. Life jackets for hire 2 hours at 20 baht. I went on a Friday and there was a lot of people but not so much so that it ruined the experience. See more..

  14. 4.5 Wat Tham Sua (294 reviews)
    - Famous temple of Kanchanaburi.
    Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
    Wat Tham Sua image
The temple is on the hill. After we had parked our car, we decided whether to climb up 157 steps steep stairs or to pay 10 baht each for a cable car (and we chose the latter). At the top of the hill, we saw a stunning panoramic view of the greenish rice field and Mae Klong river with mountain background. Moreover, there are several elegant architectures including the biggest Buddha image of Kanchanaburi. We also entered into the remarkable 9 storey orange octagonal pagoda. Ones may climb a spiral staircase to the top of the pagoda to worship Buddha relics brought from India. After enjoyed the fresh air and gorgeous architectures, we walked down the hill to visit the tiger cave. Finally, we worshipped a mummified body of Luang Por Chuen which is preserved in the glass coffin in the hall near the cave. See more..
  15. 4.5 Elephant Haven (275 reviews)
    - No Riding Here….The Elephants Direct your Day
Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Elephant Haven image
We had a great experience at Elephant Haven. Patrick and Pook were excellent guides and representatives of the haven. There are now 6 elephants on site as 2 passed away in the spring. We learned a great deal about elephant lifestyle and habitats. The elephants were happy and content…we spent the day preparing their food, feeding the elephants (they eat 10% of their body weight every day), taking them on a walk through the jungle area, watching them swim, waiting patiently while they ate trees and bushes, (elephants eat 20 out of 24 hours), taking them back to the camp while we had our lunch (which was varied and good), then walked with the elephants again to the mud pool where they played in the mud, and finally back to the River again where we got to swim with the elephants. Shower facilities are on site so visitors can clean-up before hitting the road. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. Thank you Elephant Haven! See more..

Tour guides will just mention “steps”. If you’re planning to go all the way up however, please bring sturdy walking shoes because there are a lot of steps to take. After the initial stairs and the spiral staircase, the steps just become improvised stacked rocks. Interesting views at the top though, and certainly worth a visit especially combined with Wat Tham Seua. See more..

    Taweechai Elephant Camp image
By far, ther best experience of our trip. There are no words to describe this experience. First we rode the elephants for quiet some time,(it was not just a lap around the pen kind of a ride). After, we played in the river with the elephant and I swear (and everyone that has looked at our pictures agreed) that the elephant was actually smiling when he would throw water at us....just unforgetable... 28. 4.0 Giant Tree Kanchanaburi (182 reviews)
    - If you like big trees, this is a must visit!
Spent < 1 hour Geologic Formations
    Giant Tree Kanchanaburi image
When we first visited this huge raintree several years ago, we were the only visitors and there were zero facilities... just a field with the big tree growing next to a small stream. We were shocked to recently drop by, to find a huge parking lot filled with vehicles (on a Thursday!) and dozens of shops and food stalls. Authorities have built a platform around the tree and a garden in the immediate area. For once, these efforts have been well done. The platform helps protect the tree from compaction and people climbing on the roots and the tree itself, and it doesn't really detract from the view of the tree. The majestic tree is about 5 meters in diameter at the base and has a massive spread. It may not be the largest tree in Thailand, but surely one of the most impressive. See more..
  29. 4.0 Prasat Muang Singh Historical Park (165 reviews)
    - The western most Khmer style temple ruins.
    Ancient Ruins
Prasat Muang Singh Historical Park image
The huge place contains ancient Khmer temple ruins which lies at the western most among the others. Influenced by the Khmer civilization, locals constructed and tried to imitate Bayon style Mahayana Buddhist temples after the reign of the great Khmer king Jayavarman VII around 800 years ago. Although the place is vast, it contains only 2 ruins and 1 little museum. Also, the place was damn hot, despite having many trees. However, the place was clean, tranquil and well maintained. We enjoyed strolling around, taking photos and buying souvenirs (models of Prasat Muang Singh). Even this place can't compare with the famous Angkor Wat, it's still worth a visit for ones who like this kind of architecture. Admission fee was 20 baht for Thai or 100 baht for foreigner (plus 50 baht for car / 30 baht for motor tricycle / 20 baht for motorcycle / 10 baht for bicycle). See more..

There are 2 and sometimes 3 night markets in Kanchanaburi. One is next to the bridge over the river kwai, another one next to Kanchanaburi railway station called JJ Market and another one in the center. All have a great variety of snacks, food and drinks along with all kind of clothes, bags and other handy things to buy. This is basically the only thing you can do in Kanchanaburi during the evenings since a lot of the restaurants and drinking places are out of business as a consequence of the COVID crisis. The people are super nice and very helpful. There are multiple temperature checks and hand sanitizers is everywhere available so you can safely walk around. See more..
