Quite a challenge to get there, 600 meters long stairs up a mountain (a real challenge!!) but worth the walk. First you only see a shallow cave but a guide leads you into the cave through a very narrow and dark opening (can only go with a guide of the park). An then a big surprise, a gorgeous cave that's more then 150 deep. The tours though the cave takes for about 45 min. He will show all the interesting details of the cave, show you the bats :) and he speaks a bit of English. Tip: bring some repellant for the mosquito's on your way up (jungly so there are a few), the cave is nice and cool, no mosquito's in there, nice to cool down! Fun to visit, worth the climb! ps. park/cave closes 16.00 pm. Only 20 min from Erawan. See more..

We were brought here by boat, crossed the railway tracks and walked up some stairs badly needing repair. It was not busy herd at all and tge entrance fee was low. The walk through thd cave definitely had some tight spaces and low ceilings. I was glad a family was in front of us so I could hear them. Pretty cool place to visit. See more..

There's are two utube videos about crystal caves. To get there find the Giant Monkey Pod Tree. Take the only road from there further and keep going and going. You'll finally see it way up on the mountain. It's a very steep walk up. Once you reach the temple you're greeted by a mob of angry dogs that we paid off with sweet biscuits to make friends. The monks are helpful and directed us to two caves. There's a steep metal ladder leading down to a lower level of cave 1 but I felt that it was too dangerous. It's pitch black down there so you'd need a torch or lights on a helmet. If you injured yourself by falling down you might cop a head injury and there's by no help at hand and no hospitals around so we contented ourselves with the first level. You can see the Mekong river from the back of the temple. It's not far from Burma. There are two videos on utube in which others venture down to the lower level. Crystal Caves are one of the Highlights of Kanchanaburi province. See more..
