- 5.0 Tham Nam Yen (1 review)
-Boating in Caves
Spent 1-2 hours Caverns & Caves
It is a very different experience for us. The ticket to go boating inside the Nam Yen Cave is 200 baht per ride. Maximum of 4 people per boat and 30 minutes cave exploration with 2 tour guides. We entered the cave with a big spotlight provided by the guide, and slowly as the front tour guide rowed the boat into the cave. The local tour guide cannot speak English well and fortunate for us, one of the guides able to speak Mandarin and he is trying to explain what is inside the cave. Inside the cave are the different rocks formations and stalactites some of them glitter and a lot of bats of coarse. We are not sure what is the water level inside the cave and the cave smells a little bit bad. At some points of the caves are, we would need to lie down completely on the boat to be able to pass. It make us feel a little bit like the real explorers. It is such a good and brand new experiences for all of us! See more..

-Spectacular wetland
Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
We took an early morning boat trip (two hours) on this enormous fresh water lake, the largest in Thailand, in time to see pink lotus blooming. There is a wide variety of birds - mainly waders, and any twitcher would have a field day. I regretted not preparing myself better to recognise more of these wonderful birds. Walking along to the end of lake shore is a wetlands research centre - well worth a look too as it emphasises the educational vocation of the area. See more..

-You can go higher than the cave!
Points of Interest & Landmarks
A lot of people are getting to the cave/hole in the rock viewpoint and stopping. Look for the rope on the right hand side. It leads to an amazing 360 degree viewpoint which is much much better. Note near the bottom of the climb you can take steps left or right. Left is to the temple and right is to the cave/rope viewpoint. The rope part is quite dangerous, you need to be fit. Using arms to pull yourself up. Small kids and elderly - definitely not. Free... See more..

- 4.0 Khao Chaison Hot Spring (30 reviews)
-A hot spring and a Bat cave in Phattalung
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Hot Springs & Geysers
A letdown hot spring with a pool for feet dipping which is in badly need for repair and is so hot it is scalding. Except for a few monkeys and a bit of nature shot it indeed is nothing to shout about. Oh ya, you can pay for massage there. Parking fee is 20 baht. You need not pay entrance fee for the hot spring itself. Nearby the hot spring, a cave called Tham Nam Yen, now this is the star attraction. It has two caves. One by foot and one by boat. We took the one by boat and we pleasantly surprised and glad we made this detour. You pay 200 baht for the boat ride and let me tell you that it is well worth the money. You are taken into a cave by boat and you will have to duck and lie down flat some places. You will see stalactite in shape of elephants marbles and even tits. Yes tits I lie you not. The boat ride is around 30-45 minutes. If you’re claustrophobic you might want to sit this one out. Give the boatman some tips cause they really work for their money. See more..
- 4.0 Wat Khuha Sawan (12 reviews)
-Absolute highlight
Religious Sites
Wat Khuha Sawan was a pleasant surprise. It consists of a complex of half a dozen or so buildings, and a cave which features a large reclining Buddha and many other statues and depictions inside the cavern at the entrance. There is a staircase which descends deeper into the cave until you reach a pool at the bottom. It’s free to enter and best of all, it’s only a 10-15 minute walk from the town center, so it’s easy getting there and away. We went there mid-afternoon on a Wednesday and there only one other person was there. This is a very peaceful, beautiful temple in a very scenic setting free of crowds and clutter. If you’re going to visit one temple in southern Thailand to soak up the vibe and take a few snaps, this is the one. See more..
- 4.0 Phatthalung Governors Residence (8 reviews)
-Two historical buildings with some photos.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Visited while returning from Thale Noi Waterfowl Park. No guided tour and no other people there apart from us. When we have finish taking some looks and are going to get our rented van, suddenly came a lady on her motorbike and asked for entrance fee. 10Baht for Thais and 50Baht for foreigners (if not mistaken). Our driver talked to her and we paid 10Bath for each of us, and no fee for kids. See more..

- 4.0 Train Station Night Market (2 reviews)
-Best fried chicken... anywhere
Flea & Street Markets
The train station night market in Phattalung isn’t the largest night market by any means, but packs a powerful punch in terms of setting and the quality and variety of food on offer. The market consists of a single 200 meter stretch of food stalls and a scattering of fashion and trinket shops, right opposite Phattalung’s railway station. The beautiful karst formation Khao Ok Thalu looms large just to the east, and there is ample seating to eat, drink and soak it all up. Food-wise, most of the typical southern Thailand night market fare is on show, but one thing you must try is the turmeric-infused crispy fried chicken, which we found at one of the more popular stalls. I’m not really a fried chicken kind of guy, but we went back there twice just to see how they were making it - it’s that good. Definitely worth a look if you’re in Phattalung for a night. See more..

- 3.0 Lam Pam Floating Market (1 review)
-Nothing floating here
Farmers Markets
Lam Pam Floating Market is touted as one one the premier attractions in Phattalung Province, but we kind of wandered around for an hour of so pondering what all the fuss was about. If you’re expecting something similar to Damnoen Saduak near Bangkok (a la Roger Moore in The Man with the Golden Gun), you’ll be a tad disappointed. Indeed, they called all the boats in while we were there due to high winds. There are a good number of food stalls and a few trinket shops on land, as well as a sunflower garden and a few social media-friendly photo spots. But overall, nothing extraordinary. Not really a must see, more likely a “might go and see if nothing else is happening” kind of place. In our case, we went there on the way to the waterfowl park further to the north. Worth a look if you’re on your way to somewhere else. See more..
