- 5.0 The Smiling Seahorse (172 reviews)
-Surin Islands, Tachai and Richelieu rock with The Smiling SeahorseDiving
Monday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Scuba & Snorkelling
My wife and I intended to dive the Andamans for quite some time now. One reason for which we kept postponing was that in general the liveaboards leave from Khao Luk, which for us meant taking an expensive flight from Bangkok to Phuket. We were very happy to find out that The Smiling Horse liveaboard starts its trips from Ranong, a much nicer and quieter city in our opinion, easy accessible from Bangkok by plane at a cheaper price. Our diving trip was amazing. We were the only boat in usually crowded places such as Richelieu Rock, Tachai or Ko Bon. Lots of fish, good visibility for most of the trip, great food. The thing I personally liked the best is that nitrox is available on board. With daily dives at over 23 meters, and a total of 10 dives spread over a 3 day period of time, nitrox becomes an important safety factor. And a good way to prolong the bottom time a little bit and enjoy the exceptional marine environment the Andamans have to offer. The liveaboard has great staff and experienced dive leads. We stayed in the master cabin, a comfy room with its own private bathroom. Many thanks to Franck and Camille, the owners as well as to all the crew involved in creating a great experience for us. - 5.0 Koh Gam (8 reviews)
-Fairly Crowd Free
Islands
Koh Gam is actually a small archipelago of several islands. The main island has a beautiful bay which is very safe for swimming and snorkelling. The scene here is very beautiful. This is the place we had lunch in the shade of trees. The other islands have quiet beaches and are also good for snorkelling though not as protected. We did not see many other people here, just one other longtail boat with not many guests. It feels here like you can actually get away from crowds more than other islands in the Andaman Sea. The blue sea, white sandy beaches and green jungles makes lovely views. See more..
- 5.0 1-Self Yoga (6 reviews)
-Great Yoga teacher
Yoga & Pilates
Charmaine is a great Yoga teacher. She gives very precise instructions and she carefully watches over you while you do the Asanas, she often gives a choice of easier and more difficult variations. And so it is suitable for both beginners and experienced Yogis - I've only had little experience with Yoga before I visited her classes. Classes are every second day, one at Buffalo Bay, once at Long Beach. For information go to Charmaine's reassuring Cha-Chai home. It's 300 Baht if you book ahead and 350 baht if you drop by - in can get very full in high season though. Charmaine describes her style as Hatha- it's not a very sportive, repetitive style, but rather you hold the Asanas for a long time. The classes last three hours: 1 hour of breathing exercises, 90 minutes of Asana exercises and 30 minutes of relaxation. That's longer than you're usual Yoga class at home, but I found it perfect for the holidays. See more..
- 5.0 Scuba Libre Adventures (4 reviews)
-Superbe croisière et fantastiques plongées
Scuba & Snorkelling • Boat Tours
See more..

- 5.0 Shavagit - Arts, Antiques, Jewelry, Oddities (1 review)
-A place to look for things you don't get elsewhere
Spent < 1 hour Antique Shops
A small place, with yellowish doors and a sort of an orange 'fingerprint' painted on it is all to identify the shop; it's a bit like a secret hidden treasure box.The owner, a very friendly man with a good command of English, also is very good at drawing, so once there - don't miss to look at (or maybe even buy?) one of his pictures. The shop, unfortunately a little dark, offers all kinds of 'souvenirs' - be it braceletts, wooden carvings, antiques, brass figurines, handcrafted boxes, oddities ect - this is a good place to search through his nice little treasuries, and meanwhile learn a little about the life in Ranong, as the owner is always open for a good talk. Only minus point: You never know when he opens/closes his shop, good luck! See more..
- 4.5 Ao Yai Beach (183 reviews)
-Beautiful Beach
Beaches
Tiny waves break on this beach. An Aussie expat named Mitch can get you a board and sell you some good weed to smoke that he grows on the island. High times and good vibes to be had on this island. Beautiful sunsets and clean salty water. nature lovers will enjoy. Cheers. See more..
- 4.5 Ao Khao Kwai (Buffalo Bay) (137 reviews)
-best bay ever
Spent 1-2 hours Beaches
there is no better place on earth than in front of the sea, under a shady tree. Both sides of the bay are framed with lush green tropical hills and there are some boats anchored, gently swaying on the light swell. No houses in sight, very few people on the beach, but no loungers, no beach umbrellas, no plastic washed ashore. And when the sun settles down you will see some lights from the beach bars, but there is no disco sound and no big party going on (some exceptions accepted). Swimming in the sea is possible even at low tide - enjoy. See more..
- 4.5 Porn Rang Hot Springs (65 reviews)
-Great place very popular with local residents
Hot Springs & Geysers
100 bath (for foreigners) will give you access to six hot spring pools from 38-42 degrees and a “cold” river where little fish nibble your dead skin (natural fish spa). Locals cover up, so remember to bring T-shirts and shorts (both men and women). We took a taxi/motorbike up, but as there are no taxis there, I would advise you to book a taxi back in advance. 2-3 hours would be time enough for the pools. The ticket to the pools also gives you access to a (somewhat) nearby waterfall in the National park (we didn’t go there). See more..
- 4.5 AIDC - Andaman International Dive Center (47 reviews)
-More than a Diving Experience
Monday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Scuba & Snorkelling
This is a great company. When you dive with AIDC you get more than diving. It is like a mini cruise. The dive boat is comfortable. The food is . We even had a roast lamb meal one night. Prebens knowledge of his dive sites is exceptional. He knows how to look for the small things, as well as the big things. He is always looking for new dive sites and I was with him when we discovered a new site off Surin Island. A beautiful coral bed he hadn't seen before. Diving on Prebens boat is very personal. He doesn't take many divers so it is intimate and everyone gets to know each other. The Captain and Crew are great and really make for a funny, adventurous trip. Highly recommended. See more..
- 4.5 Ao Kwang Peeb (45 reviews)
-Our favorite!
Beaches
Our favorite! There is enough shadow to settle and enjoy! Almost nobody (we saw max. 20-30 person at the « rush jour »). You need a motorbike to go there and a little bit of walking if you don’t want to go down the small path with motorbike. See more..
- 4.5 Ngao Mangrove Forest Research Centre (27 reviews)
-Unspoiled and something unique
Speciality Museums
The place is managed on a high scientific level. Mangroves are vanishing, but they can be the answer to polluted or salty water. If you are not interested in this, enjoy the endemic monkeys and the strange natural smell. You walk through untouched nature on a comfortable foot-walk. Choose a rainy day and embrace the atmosphere. Afterwards the bright malls are still open. See more..

- 4.0 Rakswarin Hot Springs (261 reviews)
-Easy Trip from Ranong with great views!
Onsen Resorts • Hot Springs & Geysers
You can picnic and relax in the public hot springs for free. There is a building (gazebo) where you can lay on the floor which is heated by the thermal steam underneath. Recommend paid baths as they are cleaner and folks less likely to stare if you're a woman alone in your bathing kit and to lock valuables. Worth a couple hours... See more..
