  5. 4.5 Långbryggan (266 reviews)
    - Impressive pier
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Långbryggan image
With 628m this is Scandinavias longest pier. And it is quite an impressive sight. Just behind the Train Station the long wooden panels lead out onto Lake Siljan. At several spots on the pier you can take a few steps down, closer to the water. Originally meant for smaller boats to dock it also makes a very nice picknick break spot (as many locals do). At the end of the pier there's a generous area with some trees, green and a good number of benches to relax. It's a really lovely spot and a nice little stroll. Surely one of the must-do's when around Lake Siljan. We loved it. And be sure not to miss out on the compact but very charming center of Rättvik around Storgatan. See more..

We did not know anything about this marvelous painter, Anders Zorn. We found out that he painted portraits of several American presidents that are hanging in the White House. Be sure to schedule a guided tour of his house that is impeccably beautiful for after you visit the museum and Zorn's beautiful paintings. The grounds are lovely, too. Zorn's wife left their wealth to the posterity of the grounds, museum, and home. What a wonderful gift to all of us! See more..

    - Dala Horse
Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops
    Nils Olsson Dalahastar image
See more..
  12. 4.5 Fulufjällets National Park (116 reviews)
    - Wonderful place but more guidance for treks would have been good
    National Parks • Parks
    Fulufjällets National Park image
The area is big and there are many walks, unmarked and marked. If you are unused to walking/trekking, it would have been good with more info in terms of how difficult they were. Most people seemed to head for the Njupeskar waterfall, which is of course picturesque and busy. We entered the park nearest the waterfall, and this is also the main entrance, although there are several others. At the entrance there were toilets, small cafe and a manned information hut, where I even got to big very reasonably priced hand knitted socks - needed in the chilly morning. After the waterfall, it was possible to continue up a steep mountain covered in sharp rocks. I was surprised to see people bringing their dogs on these rocks. Both dogs and people can injure themselves on these sharp rocks. Instead of taking the climb uphill, we turned right and walked round it with the added bonus of being on our own. See more..

We saw the art works and museum with an excellent guide. The art works are beautiful and connected in many ways to the museum. The large dark building and the history of mining and copper production are very interesting. There are quite many stairs, but you also sit down to watch short films. See more..

    - Very nice but keep going!
Spent < 1 hour Scenic Drives
    The Magic Road Nipfjallet image
Very nice and deceiving. You have to experience this if you're nearby. The view and the trails at the end of the road (about 2km) are fantastic. We hiked up the mountain with our 2 and 4 year old and they loved it. We played in the snow for a bit and then a group of about 8 raindeer were walking around the path. Brilliant. See more..

  22. 4.5 Ornässtugan (28 reviews)
    - Amazing
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Coffeehouses • History Museums
    Ornässtugan image
Ornasstugan is a large medieval timber guesthouse built in the beginning of the 16th Century. It was built by a wealthty man who was part owner of the Falu copper mine. Ornasstugan is the second oldest museum in Sweden, estblished in the 1750s to commemorate the dramatic visit of a young nobleman, Gustav Vasa, who was on the run from the Danish king. Gustav decided to come to Dalarna to seek help to assemble a resistance army to try to wrest control from the Danish who were in power of Sweden. The owner of Ornas promised to help and allowed Gustav to sleep in the guesthouse. However, the owner was more interested in the reward money offered for Gustav´s capture. Gustav had to escape and did so with help from the wife of Ornas, through the toilet. Gustav Vasa would later become the first king of an independent Sweden. The stories of his adventures in Dalarna in 1520 have been told at Ornasstugan for 500 years. Next to the museum is a tasty café and wounderful view of the lake Runn. See more..

  24. 4.0 Orsa Gronklitt Bjornpark (298 reviews)
    - Great day out.
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Orsa Gronklitt Bjornpark image
We came on a breezy day to the park. It was nice to stroll around and look for the animals. The enclosures are big so sometimes it’s hard. We never did find the lynx. The leopards and bears are beautiful creatures but it always feels a little sad to see them in captivity, even if they seem to have it very good at this park. Lots of little stations for kids to discover too. All in all, a great day out. See more..
  25. 4.0 Leksand Sommarland (196 reviews)
    - A water park with lots of attractions for young people and adults
Spent More than 3 hours Water Parks
    Leksand Sommarland image
Leksand Sommarland is one of the first "sommarland" in Sweden. The company was founded in 1984 and is today one of the most fun family park in Sweden. Most of the fun activities you can think of is available here and the park has the longest water slide in the world at 300 m. We also have one of Sweden's longest zipline at 300 m long. New for 2015 is three pieces of rope courses at 10 m height and two at 2 m height. We have also built a 9 hole disc golf park and received two new alpacas in the mini farm. Next to us is our lovely campsite which is one of Sweden's largest. If you stay with us you can take advantage of our discounted sommarland package. Welcome to us this summer! See more..
  26. 4.0 Idre Fjäll (166 reviews)
    - Feels like it's unusually few slopes open despite chilly December.
Spent More than 3 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails • Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Idre Fjäll image
I think I have never seen so many people in the area before and it is not positive for me as a guest. When then only a fraction of the mountain is open, there are easy queues, countless lift stops on the main lift does not make it better. When we still give feedback, the 5.5 km track was in miserable condition and hardly worth a penny in track fee. Our accommodation PW Hotel is starting to feel stuffy and not at all like you read at the entrance to Idre, "Fjällvärlden's coziest hotel". The restaurant visit to the same hotel lacked almost everything one could wish for and the breakfast is far appealing. On the positive side, however, was the new back restaurant Rotisserie, which offered a simple but tasty menu. However, the entire travel company voted for the dinner at Kött & Fiskbaren to be the biggest treasure. Good, affordable and superb reception by some gentlemen in management. See more..

    Kupolen Shopping Center image
There are 80 shops here, on 3 floors! Everything easy to get to and no hassle with parking at all - and the parking is FREE!! Two different car parks! Bit difficult to find entry because they are re-building the whole area for a new IKEA! Follow the orange signs (diversion) There's a McDonalds there, and a pizzeria on the first floor, a couple of cafés on the ground floor,, chemist's, florist's, H @ M, gadget shops, Jula, more restaurants on 3rd, top floor. Only thing I don't like are the escalators,, glass walls - make me giddy! But there are lifts! Best shopping in Dalarna!! See more..
