A nice climb up. No equipment other than stable shoes necessary. A slightly less challenging route can be chosen partway up that then re-joins the main path again. Beautiful views from the top. Possibility to build a fire at the top! No toilets available. See more..

- 4.5 Järvzoo (154 reviews)
-You can feel the energy of nature
Friday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Zoos
I don’t really visit zoos but it’s definitely a different one! The zoo itself is amazing, it has been built in the middle of the forest, so it is very unique, and you can actually feel how close the nature is. The one and only thing I didn’t like is the fact that the birds are kept in pretty small cages and they seemed pretty depressed as well. I felt very sorry for them. See more..
- 4.5 Skuleskogen Nationalpark (147 reviews)
-What a wonderful place
National Parks • Parks
Well! What a beautiful spot this is for hiking. Lakes, crevices, bathing spots, amazing views and well organised spots for lighting fires and shacks for overnighting. I can understand why it is so popular. We entered at the north entrance and hiked to the Tärnättholmarna the up to Tärnättsvatten and the high coast trail back to the northern entry. We took it easy and this hike is about 3-4 hours walking but stopping and so it took approximately 6 hours. See more..
- 4.5 The Prison Museum of Sweden (135 reviews)
-Must See!
Friday: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
Experience prison conditions of the past in two unique prison buildings. Follow history from the old castle jail with its underground dungeons, dating back to the mid-1600s, to one of Sweden’s first penitentiaries, dating from 1847. You will witness the Swedish prison system, which developed from a period of public enforced shame and corporal punishment to a time when prisoners were isolated from society in what we now call solitary confinement. A visit to the Prison Museum leaves no one unaffected. When you visit the museum, borrow an audioguide in english or german for free! See more..

-Top Secret - Underground Military Base Open for your viewing!
Spent 2-3 hours Military Museums
At loose ends today and stumbled on this very cool military installation/museum. Planning and discussion for a top secret military base began as early as 1917 but, it was finally built in the 50’s when worry about the Cold War between the old USSR and the USA ran high. The grounds are beautiful with easy walking trails and there is even a restaurant with sea view. However, it is the underground compound that is so very unique and interesting! Pay for the guided tour (offered in variety of languages). Once inside the guide will provide information on the rooms, staffing and construction of the facility. Equipment, documents and signage all bring home the era. It is a trek to get there including a ferry ride but worth the visit. See more..
- 4.5 Slattdalsskrevan (76 reviews)
-Quite a hike
Points of Interest & Landmarks
We took the western entrance and made it to the canyon, it took around one and a half hour walking fast. It was cool to see the canyon but the hike is quite boring itself. After that we took the southern route and took about 40min to walk. I don’t recommend this hike for people with walking disabilities cause of the rocky terrain. See more..

-A magnificent coll cation of classics
Temporarily closed - Closed until further notice Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
I didn’t expect to find a place like this in a small town in northern Sweden but what a surprise. For a car nut like me, this is pure nirvana. Lots of classic American iron together with European cars from the 40’s thru the 70’s. Including cars from the old Eastern block countries, seldom seen elsewhere and never in the US. See more..
- 4.5 Trolska Skogen (48 reviews)
-Lovely day out for young people of all ages!
Amusement & Theme Parks
What an amazing idea! A stroll with the kiddies through the beautiful Swedish forest. But, you are not alone, because this forest is inhabitated by all sorts of mystical, magical Nordic creatures. As you wind your way around you can lend a hand to the local trolls, try not to upset the witch, and maybe say "hej" to the Swedish version of Santa Claus. Take the gang and grandma and head off for a fantastic adventure. Be sure to have a snack at the cafe and beware there might be dragons ... Or worse. See more..
- 4.5 Galtstroms Bruk (46 reviews)
-A fun historic place to visit with a great restaurant
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
I have lived in this area for many years but have never really visited the place. My wife and I took the kids on two separate trips, and it was needed. The first time we walked around the place, got ice cream at the shop and really enjoyed the old history. The 2nd time around, we went there for lunch (highly recommended) and then took the local train around the area which was very fun and neat! See more..

-Ocean, sandbeach, naturepreserve area
Spent More than 3 hours Beaches • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Finegrained sandbeach, saltwater, and nature. There is a small kiosk that also servers simple dishes, restrooms, changing stalls, and volleyboll nets. Positioned inside a naturepreserve area, there are hiking trails nearby, and in the rocks there are oceancarved caves if you are up for a quite taxing hike up into the hills. The hike gives a spectacular view though. A mere kilometer away there is also a tiny lake with a trail running around it. See more..

-A family doing everything right!
Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Farms
We spent a weekend at their high-end B&B and it was a very nice experience - a dedicated entrepreneurial family with hearts and minds on both warm family hospitality and enthusiasm for local history and preservation. Very nice lodging area and comfortable rooms, great well-thought out breakfast with local produce, and a fun and balanced guided tour in the main farmhouse, put in good order by many hard working hours. Visit wrapped up by "fika" with home baked pastries. Simply the rare kind of place where everything is done right. See more..
- 4.5 Loos Koboltgruva (19 reviews)
-How often do you find a cobalt mine? An interesting piece of history well worth a detour
Speciality Museums
We were impressed by the museum and the guided tour with a 15 minute introductory film (English subtitles). The staff spoke excellent English (never a surprise in Sweden) and explained the history and the importance of the mine to the local area during the 1700's, including of course the trials and difficulties faced by the workers, as they led us into the depths. (This was the very first place that nickel was discovered). Although the mine was worked to a depth of 43 metres they tour only goes down about half that. you can look down into the flooded depths, but hold onto your hard hat (provided for the tour). After about 40 years the mine was worked out and attempts to start glass making as a replacement industry failed largely because 18th century transport to such a remote location was difficult and unreliable. The local museum team are working on extending the renovation and reclamation of the workings and they are to be commended on their hard work and commitment. Well worth every minute. See more..
- 4.5 Grontjarn naturreserve (19 reviews)
-Nice place
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
The trip to Gröntjärn is very beautiful with blue mountains and forests as long as you can see. The lake is easy to walk around. Bring a picnic and make it a day. Breath. See more..
