- 5.0 Soltuna Cave Trail (1 review)
-Excellent day walk with views
Hiking Trails
This is one of the nicest short walks that I have had in Finland. You can easily spend 3 hours in this 5 km walk as there is lot to see and explore, like caves. It is not very demanding, but there are occasional rocks and steep cliffs so it is not for one with mobility limitations. As it is so nice, there were quite a few people on the path. Overall great experience. P.S. there is also disc golf court there See more..
- 5.0 Karingsund Gasthamn (1 review)
-Beautiful, calm place
Spent 2-3 hours Marinas
A cute little harbour with wooden buildings and nature all around. About 1km from the Eckerö line terminal. There's a nice restaurant in the middle of it, where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. On its West side there's a small lighthouse on a cliff, where you can climb and behold the sea. And if you're interested in geology, there's a path with information about how the Åland islands came to existence and many interesting rock formations marked. See more..
- 4.5 Åland Maritime Museum (266 reviews)

A visit to the Aland Maritime Museum is exciting for children and adults alike. The exhibitions are filled with dramatic stories and fantastic objects, such a genuine 18th century pirate’s flag. There are also lots of interactivities, such as a climbing mast, a bridge simulator and a karaoke. Seadog, landlubber or in between - Aland Maritime Museum has something for everybody. See more..

- 4.5 Aland Hunting & Fishing Museum (17 reviews)
-Nice for entire family
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
A place to see for the entire family. Came here with our kids, 5 and 7-year olds, and they liked it so much they didn’t want to leave. They had a treasure hunt and other activities for kids, like a small “fishing pond” and fish market. Interesting collection of stuffed animals and fish, as well as fishing and hunting gear. There’s no cafe in the museum, but one very close by. See more..
- 4.5 Jan Karlsgarden Open Air Museum (17 reviews)
-interesting 'Rodfärgskokning'
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • History Museums
The Jan Karlsgarden Friluftsmuseum next to the Kastelholm Slott is an open air museum giving a good insight into the rural past of the Alands. There are several buildings from the 18th and 19th century to see with sometimes people in traditional costume performing time-honoured crafts. I was especially fascinated watching two ladies at the 'Rodfärgskokning', stirring a long stake in a big pot with boiling red dye. Several of the buildings and barns of this open air museum are painted in that copper-based falun red, so typical of the Swedish and Finnish countryside. The 'Wärdshus' here functions as a self service restaurant, where we had coffee and a quite good Aland's Pannkaka with Sviskonkräm (a prunes compote). What is not missing at this museum is a maypole. From here we went to visit the separate Prison Museum by the entrance. See more..
- 4.5 Getabergen (11 reviews)
-hiking in superb nature
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Sailing had been the activity on the previous day, now it was time for some hiking. For this we rented a car and drove about 30km out of Mariehamn to the northernmost area of Fasta Aland, the biggest and most populous island of the archipelago. We parked the car outside the restaurant Solduna at one of the highest points of the Aland's (99m asl). There was a small pond there with a boat in it and it was the starting point of our walk. The path takes one through forests, over flat granite rocks to a cave and a narrow gorge. At a certain point there were hundreds of small cairns. Once in a while we encountered an information board, often only in Swedish. We didn't meet anybody, when we walked there and we very much enjoyed the peace and the beauty of the nature here. - 4.5 Kokar (6 reviews)
-The place to go in the archipelago of Aland
Islands
Kökar is the place to go if you wish to leave "central Åland" and visit a more remote island. Kökar has 300 inhabitants or so, but never the less offers a hotel, Budhäll, with a good restaurant placed at the guest harbour. The village of Kökar is quite cute and there are views of the archipelago all over the place. Do not miss the church, St Anna, placed beautifully overlooking the sea. To get here you need to take the ferry run by "Ålandstrafiiken" from Långnäs/Åland. And when you leave you might as well take the ferry to Finland and continue to Turku/Åbo. See more..
- 4.5 Wiklof Holding Arena (5 reviews)
-Football stadium

This multi-purpose stadium is located near the city center in Mariehamn. However, it is used mainly for football matches. It is the home ground of IFK Mariehamn. The stadium has a capacity of 1 635 people and was originally built in 1932 but has been modernized after that. A renovated auditorium was built in 2005. See more..

Alltid en fröjd att besöka Ålandstravet. Är man på Åland så är en tur ut till travbanan en självklarhet. Fina tävlingar med hög trivsel och stor gemytlighet. Skummande öl och härlig kokt korv, kan det bli bättre?! See more..

- 4.0 Kastelholm Castle (246 reviews)
-Very lovely place
Speciality Museums
Drive here on a cloudy morning, there is free parking nearby. Luckily I came before it got full. The castle is lovely and the area around it is spectacular, with nice views over the lake. It also has an open-air museum with someone playing a very nice violin. It's a nice place and a nice location, worth a visit. See more..
- 4.0 The Fortress of Bomarsund (138 reviews)
-Nature and history in the same place
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Bomarsund is a very good place to visit if you are interested in history and/or wandering in the nature. In my opinion this is not a place for small children because you have to walk quite alot. The main attraction are the ruins of the fortress (small children are perhaps not so interested in). There is also a cafe and camping area at Bomarsund. Overall a lovely place to visit! See more..
- 4.0 Eckero Post Och Tullhus (61 reviews)
-Impressive building
Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
The Eckero Post Och Tullhus building is very impressive. It rules the landscape but it's very beautiful. There is changing exhibitions and a small shop indoors. Next to the main building is a side building where is a Kafé Kalesch. There is also some kind of a memorial stone by the waterfront; it has nice carvings. See more..
- 4.0 Lilla holmen (57 reviews)
-Peaceful
Spent < 1 hour Parks
The Lilla Holmen is just the cutest little island. At least two small bridges goes to the island. There are nice seating areas and a nice beach. There are animals too; bunnies and birds. The atmosphere was, at least during my visit, very peaceful and relaxing (not so many people around). A hike path starts from Lilla Holmen and runs to the southern part of Marianhamina and then goes to the west side of the island where is partly wooden walkways by the shore. It is a lovely route and part of the Mariehamn Runt. See more..
- 4.0 The Maritime Quarter (38 reviews)
-Living marine center
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks
You will find this place from the eastern harbor of Mariehamn, 10 minutes walk from the city center. Here is still boat building activity, a smithy, and other handicrafts. You can visit a museum or stroll around the traditional style Åland marina for traditional ships and wooden boats. Furthest you will find a Seafarers’ chapel. From the shops, you can buy Åland handicrafts. Pub Niska is serving pizza, other food, and drinks. See more..
