- 5.0 Kieppi, Kokkola Museum of Natural History (2 reviews)
-The most interesting and free sight in Neristan, the old town of Kokkola
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Natural History Museums
Kieppi is a science museum, which consists of three different parts: the butterfly collection, other biological collections (Finnish mammals and birds, foreign species, traditional hunting culture, fossils) and the mineral collection. These collections are huge. The butterfly collection consists of 30,000 specimens and the mineral collection consists of over 1,500 specimens from all over the world. Biological dioramas are marvelous. You can find many very rare and exceptional specimens in these collections, e.g. a melanistic hare, hybrids between two different species and interesting fossils. Our family spent about an hour in this museum. My teenage son could have been there even longer. Besides, there isn't any entrance fee to this museum! See more..
