4.0The Maritime Quarter(38 reviews) - Living marine center Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks
You will find this place from the eastern harbor of Mariehamn, 10 minutes walk from the city center. Here is still boat building activity, a smithy, and other handicrafts. You can visit a museum or stroll around the traditional style Åland marina for traditional ships and wooden boats. Furthest you will find a Seafarers’ chapel. From the shops, you can buy Åland handicrafts. Pub Niska is serving pizza, other food, and drinks.See more..
From the moment you walk into this painted beauty you will be amazed. The walls, ceiling and support are all hand painted and includes the ship hanging from the overhead as a prayer memorial to sailors at sea. One of the nicest small-town churches we have visitedSee more..
3.5Kungso Batteriberg(3 reviews) - History in the middle of nowhere - from the stupidness of war - scenic view and nice walk-arounds Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Mountains • Lookouts
This old batteri is really somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Seeing which equipment the nations built up there, it shows you the importance of this island, and as well the nonsense of what world war means. As a matter of fact it leads you to a tower with a great overview of the landscape - you can see the ships coming in to Aland. And the landscape is incredible beautiful here. Special here are some nice walk-arounds, nice especially for families - along the old wall of the batteri. We liked it - great. Worth to vist. Note: the way up to the batteri takes longer then in Salis.See more..
