4.0The Fortress of Bomarsund(138 reviews) - Nature and history in the same place Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Bomarsund is a very good place to visit if you are interested in history and/or wandering in the nature. In my opinion this is not a place for small children because you have to walk quite alot. The main attraction are the ruins of the fortress (small children are perhaps not so interested in). There is also a cafe and camping area at Bomarsund. Overall a lovely place to visit!See more..
4.0The Maritime Quarter(38 reviews) - Living marine center Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks
You will find this place from the eastern harbor of Mariehamn, 10 minutes walk from the city center. Here is still boat building activity, a smithy, and other handicrafts. You can visit a museum or stroll around the traditional style Åland marina for traditional ships and wooden boats. Furthest you will find a Seafarers’ chapel. From the shops, you can buy Åland handicrafts. Pub Niska is serving pizza, other food, and drinks.See more..
3.0Aalands Parliament(12 reviews) - Ugly building Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Åland is an autonomous, demilitarized, and unilingually Swedish-speaking territory of Finland. The parliament of Åland is called as Lagtinget. It has 30 seats. The self-government gives the Ålanders the right to enact laws on their internal affairs and to decide on the budget. On some days, there are guided tours. We saw the decayed building only from outside.See more..
