History with a great view
Sålis batteri is a former russian military battery, that once hosted about 100 persons and three canons during world war 1. Park your car down by the road, don't get freighten by the man in the little cabin. Walk along the 500 m long rocky road and read the information along the way. The information is in Swedish, Finnish and English. Kids will for sure love to play around in this area, although it should be done carefully and with respect. From the tower you will get a lovely view from where you will be able to see Sälskärs light house in north west, and some antennas in Mariehamn. Don't miss to sign the guest book! There are also some tables to have your picnic.

History in the middle of nowhere - from the stupidness of war - scenic view
This old batteri is really somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Seeing which equipment the nations built up there, it shows you the importance of this island, and as well the nonsense of what world war means. As a matter of fact it leads you to a tower with a great overview of the landscape. And the landscape is incredible beautiful here. Special here is that from the original road a part was not destroyed, so you get a pretty good overview of the overall arena here. We liked it - great. Worth to vist.
