This is one of the must-see attractions in Sepilok. It is almost guaranteed to see an orangutan here, but it is still good to remember that this is not a zoo and orangutans are roaming freely. When we visited the place, we saw just one orangutan with a baby on the first feeding and three on the second one. The ticket is valid for the whole day so if you stay in the area, you can watch both feedings. The place itself is relatively simple. It is just a boardwalk with single feeding platform. Then again, that is all you need. Feeding platform can get relatively crowded during feeding times. If you stay in the area, it is best to arrive 30-45 minutes before the feeding time to enjoy some quiet time. When we were there, wearing a mask was mandatory to protect the orangutans. Also, no bags are allowed and they must be left in the guarded storage room.See more..
I understand why the center was established and there which is good to see, however being there felt like being in a zoo unfortunately. The bears are in large fenced enclosures which you can view from platforms above. They walk around like a zoo on dirt grounds, yet I remind myself they are handled better there than their previous owners. I would visit if you’re in the area.See more..
We organized a Grab Driver - Azrien to take us from Sepilok to Proboscis Monkeys. We also wanted to see the Sandakan Memorial Park so had negotiated via What’s App with Azrien. He turned up on time and was great. First stop was Proboscis Monkeys and Azrien spotted some buffalo on the way in. Loved seeing the proboscis monkeys feeding and watching the alpha male shows his dominance. We were going to stay for two feeding times and go to Sandakan afterwards but decided one feeding was enough so negotiated a city tour with Azrien. He was very accommodating and knew about the different places he took us. His English is pretty good - able to understand most things. He was very patient waiting for us to finish at each place. Great tour of Sandakan and Proboscis Monkeys. Would thoroughly recommend Azrien. Contact on What’s App. Ph. +60 13 797 9018.See more..

We booked our trip directly with Crystal Quest. The boat leaves for turtle island in the morning and you get to spend your day at leisure on the island. We went snorkelling i the sea. In the evening the mother turtle came and we had a close up view of her laying her eggs (73 in total). We later saw the eggs being buried in the hatchery and then saw new borns being released to the sea. The whole experience as amazing. It was very well organised and the rangers are very respectful of the turtles. It is a conservation island. Accommodation was basic and the food was good.See more..

3.5Kota Kinabalu Wetland Centre(225 reviews) - Wet trash lands Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
All in all it was an nice experience. We saw a lot of crabs and some birds. We were there around noon, but I think that it would haven been better to be there early in the morning or in the evening to see more birds. The downside was that the structural integrity of the pathway was questionable and that there is trash everywhere (bottles, styrofoam, cups, everything). I don’t know if the thrash is from the visitors but anyhow they should do something about it. It’s really sad to look at.See more..

4.0Tabin Wildlife Reserve(148 reviews) - The Resort is a gem in the jungle Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
The setting of lodging units is simply unexpectedly picturesque and comfortable beyond you can imagine right in the middle of the jungle. Both lodging units, along the riverbank and along the terrain of the hill, are on a beautiful setting with a balcony in each unit. The river bank units is more suitable for the seniors and the hillside lodges are good for those energetic young lads. The food catered in the restaurant is a five stars standard, it is better than many resorts in the wild and on certain islands in the state. The staffs are very friendly and the rangers are knowledgeable and helpful. On this promotion rate, it is really a value for your dollar!See more..
5.0Danum Valley Conservation Area(138 reviews) - Orangutan in natural habitat Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Valleys
I was very fortunate to witness Orangutan fairly up close in the wild at Danum Valley, something I’ll never forget. Top 5 experiences of my life. From Borneo Rainforest Lodge there are many walks to take, either on boardwalks or trekking in the forest, either option is worthwhile. Pack leech socks or either pull long socks up your legs as there are leeches. I walked up to Coffin Cliff and View Point platform that was a hot and steep walk which takes approx 1.5 hour (moderate fitness) each way. Was also lucky to see red leaf monkey during this trek, which are very cute. And stopped by Jacuzzi pool for a cool off on the way back down. The long canopy walk (longest in Sabah) being three made of timber and three of steel, is great especially in the morning light and bird life. Highly recommend Danum Valley for nature and wildlife lovers.See more..
Be warned - wear leech socks for this walk in the forest. It was our first day in Sabah and we had no idea that we were going to be taken for a walk through the forest therefore we were not wearing boots and leech socks and the guides said nothing. The result was a leech attack. All that aside we had great views of two Rafflesia pricei flowers and lots of buds plus some old flowers. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful - apart from the leech socks!!See more..
Came to the resort for daughter's wedding. Management could not be more helpful and went out off there way to help.when they found out what happened at the sister resort in regards to the wedding they were so shameful that it had happened. The resorts local residents ie monkeys were a delight to see and the management's advise to keep your doors closed as they will take things. The water with the fish watching was so relaxingSee more..

We drove to Maliau Basin in Jan 2022. We were fascinated with the field centre. The accomodation is off the ground and all the walkways are connected which means you are at eye level with trees . It gave us a great opportunity to observe wildlife. The canopy walk is also worth a visit. We did 2 trails which were very nice. We saw Gibbons, read leaf monkeys, long tail macaque, marble cat, leopard cat, deer, civets, squirrels, lots of insects and birds, lizards etc etc. The list is long. Accomodation and food is good.See more..

5.0Sungai Kapur(15 reviews) - a superb area Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests
Sungai Kapur – North Tabin is located within the RAMSAR site and referring it to an “off the beaten path gem” is an understatement! Sungai Kapur is by far Lahad Datu’s “2in1”! To conceptualize, it is as if the jungle of Danum Valley and the Kinabatangan River meets and placed in one area. As such visitors to this coordinate can engage at jungle trekking, river cruising and night safari.See more..

5.0Mount Trusmadi(4 reviews) - 360 view from the peak Spent More than 3 hours Mountains • Nature & Wildlife Areas

I went here with 1StopBorneo Wildlife for a 3 days 2 nights team trip and it was simply wonderful! Before our adventure even started, we saw a Wrinkled Hornbill on the way to Camp Maris. Other cool animals I saw during the safaris were Binturong, Slow Loris, Wrinkled hornbills, Sambar Deer, Muntjac Deer, Wallace's Flying Frog, Reticulated Python, and so much more! There were many unique butterflies around the accommodation as well. The food provided was delicious, with afternoon tea and fruits included. Lunch on day 2 was by a small river which was absolutely relaxing! River was clean with a lot of fish, some of us also took a dip after lunch. Although the replanted forest is only 20+ years old, Inikea is teeming with wildlife. It is a great place to chill and unwind as it is remote from the usual tourist destinations in Borneo. Undoubtedly a must visit hidden gem!See more..

Awesomely surprised to drive into this tourist attraction from Papar Bridge . Parked our car, went down to the ticketing shed to check . The Entry fee is free for Senior Citizens, Rm3.00 for adult. We took a tour around the whole area. At the entrance , it has convenient Stores, Food Canteen and electric bikes for rental to drive around the park. The man made steel bridge to walk across its fish pond is not an easy task. Some visitors were struggling through it. There are Tents for rental at Rm20.00 for visitors to do their bbq or events infront the pond . Many are seen having fun bamboo rafting, swimming & picnicking or taking their group pictures. It is a pet friendly ground ! Safety jackets are for rental. Safety Notices are strategically placed around the park and counters. The place is very crowded with lots of activities going on. Certainly a sight not to be missed while you are next in Papar !!!See more..

I am a big fans of paddy field & I must say that Kg Sangkir has a beautiful paddy field in Malaysia, like Peninsular Malaysia but with an additional Mt Kinabalu view as a background. This was my 2nd time here & one of the main reason why I wanted to explore Kota Belud. Over the years, I can see few area was developed as cafe or lodge to attract more tourists, which is a good thing. However for me, I just love to sit by the roadside & enjoying the view and the local farmers performing their daily task. This place always have a special place in my heart. Note : Please check before you come, so you wont be coming during the harvesting time. See more..
