    Wowed from start to end
The welcome, in general, by Sabahans have always been warm, but the reception from the moment of us stepping out of the GrabCar, was heartfelt and consistent!! The check in staff was clear and friendly. The room prepared for us, had views to die for. On one side, the South China sea unfolded its waves and glory without reserve, and on the other side, the thick forest welcomed us with the dances of pied hornbills bee catchers and the song off bulbuls at the break of dawn. The staff at Rasa Ria, have always been warm and helpful. Notably restaurant staff Isaac and Celvera made us feel like we were in their own kitchen and dining room. Activity staff such as Steeley, brought us through cycle paths through the Bajau eco village, while others like Thim, Andy and Casey (? ) helped us track safely at 5am through jungle tracks to view the sun peeping over Mount Kinabalu. Steeley And Thim showed great care for safety but knowledge to share, and experience to impact despite their much younger age than most of us,. Small gestures of all staff, from the greeting with hand on heart, to the changing of plant centrepiece to even the goodbye quartet … all added up to an exceptional hotel stay never experienced before. … the goodbye song, with a call to return home, nearly left us in tears…

    A story worth telling
There is a saying in China about traveling makes you into a story teller and this hotel is a story worth telling. It is set in acres of land with a beach 3 miles long where you can take part in water sports. My husband decided that at our age sitting around one of the two pools was just our cup of tea. If you are more active then there is a lot to do they even have their own bike trails. We did venture up through the jungle to see the sun rise over the tallest mountain in Malaysia (mount Kinabalu). I must thank my family and a ranger Tim for helping me down. There are many trails that you can take and the rangers are there to help you. When the sun came up over the Mountain it looked like the sky was on fire, we had a fruit breakfast but made a quick get away when a troupe of monkeys came and joined us. The hotel is worth it’s 5 stars. The rooms are spacious, clean and decorative and the food was various and of a very high standard, we ate in all 6 restaurants and all were our favourite. If you want to get away from the maddening crowd then this is the best place to stay, but for all the beauty all around the greatest part of the hotel are the staff. Words can not explain how fantastic they are, every one is a gem, many have worked there for many years and they had me in tears when they sang to us as we left.
