Yes - the cathedral is amazing. The doors are open and you can wander in and see this amazing "temple". And the Parque (better described as a plaza or square) in front of the temple is fabulous. Not sure how many nights a week, but definitely on Sunday nights the square and the surrounding streets are full of street vendors, street food, music, dancing and families enjoying the festivities. There is a restaurant overlooking the square (Tertulia) that has wonderful food and a great view of the cathedral and all the activities in the square. We enjoyed it very much.See more..
It is a very beautiful place in Jalisco and recognized as the second most important religious tourist center in Mexico. The people are very nice, and it is usually hot. The square is beautiful, full of stalls, people, color and joy. You can enjoy the sunset a lot in addition to selling very rich cajeta, which you do not know where to buy and at a good price. Regarding the food, everything is very tasty and pleasant, the price is not expensive so you can enjoy the variety of dishes that are offered, they also sell very tasty natural snacks. You must make reservations in advance at a nearby hotel to have the wonderful view of the church, but if not, do not worry, there are small locations that accommodate you and are pleasant.See more..
4.5Parroquia Santiago Apostol(116 reviews) - Lovely historic church and UNESCO site. Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
We visited this 1649 Parish church and the plaza area, a focal point of this small town’s designation as a UNESCO site. The single nave interior is beautiful with the blue and yellow accents and the colors of the multi wood parquet floors. It’s a quiet haven in an otherwise congested town overflowing with tourists. Parking was not a problem just 4 blocks from the church or follow one of the many men holding the ‘E’ signs for closer pay parking.See more..

This temple is a miniature replica of St. Peter's cathedral in Rome. The front is made with rose stone with impressive columns and statues on top. You can enjoy the view of the city from this beautiful temple. A must see for visitors of Lagos de Moreno. See more..
The building is stunning! The gardens are an oasis of heaven on earth! But I really wanted to go to Confession (hadn't been in 10 years) with Fr Basil after I heard how marvelous he was (at the nail shop!) I Am getting choked up remembering how kind, gentle and gracious he was with me, he as like balm on my aching heart! I went to the 9:00 English mass afterwords and it was just wonderful, lots of my favorite music, great choir! Highly recommend whether you RC or not, then spend the morning in the plaza sipping coffee and chatting with 'Mexpats' and natives! High-lite of my trip!See more..

We visited here on our way from Puerto Vallarta. Our final destination was Guadalajara. So glad we stopped by. On your way there, make sure you stop by the Mirador. You can eat at the mercado next to the Basilica and buy candy after you eat. Make sure you stop by the church. Plenty of free parking.See more..
While visiting Ocotlan we came across this beautiful church. It was built on top of ruins of the parish that was destroyed on October 2nd 1847 after a earthquake that destroyed all of the buildings except the Chapel of Immaculate and the house of Don & Lupita Castellanos, who helped look after the people. It took 23 years to built the new church and it was completed on Sep 29th 1870. The alter has a lovely crucifix and statues along the walls, also pictures showing what happened to the town. There is a large cross on the left of the church and a lovely fountain in the front.See more..
Beautiful church, simple but exquisite neoclassical design. It's a big building for such a small town, you can see it from almost every corner of the city. If you visit Autlan, a visit to this Cathedral is a must. There was still some construction going on on the exterior, which didn't affect visitors from going into the Cathedral.See more..
The visit to this church it is a MUST! It is located right in the downtown, main square to be specific. Pictures from outside or inside are amazing. It took more than 20 years to be built and the entire town cooperated with money and efforts to raise money. It is made with bricks and that makes it so special. Mostly all the churches around the world are pretty similar as concept so this one has a unique architecture to admire.See more..
The Templo del Senor del Monte is a Roman Catholic Church in Jocotepec. I wasn't able to establish when the Church was constructed, but the town was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century, so that's a hint that this beautiful Church is very old.See more..
4.5Parroquia de San Francisco(9 reviews) - Big nice park along the waters edge of town Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
The Park is along the edge of the lake on the south end of town with many meandering sidewalks and paths to walk along. Be prepared to be charged 5 Pesos if you go in the middle of the day, though if you go early morning or late afternoon, there's a good chance the woman won't be there to charge you. Good place to walk your dog or just yourself for shade and quiet.See more..

4.0Iglesia de San Sebastian Martir(7 reviews) - Old Spanish church with lots of History. Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
The original Iglesias de San Sebastian Martir was constructed in 1608, and with its old bell tower and gray exterior walls, it’s not much to look at on the outside. But inside is very different, with its Corinthian columns and vaulted ceiling covered in lovely frescos, its pure Colonial Spanish style Baroque. There are many statues and paintings scattered around the church, there is also a model of Jesus in a glass box, and high up in the air above the main nave are pretty crystal Chandeliers hanging. There is a small side chapel with a painting of John the Baptist, baptizing Jesus, hanging on the wall behind the Font. To enter the church is free, but to visit the small museum next door there is a small fee. TIP: if you are making a trip to or from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta, San Sebastián del Oeste it’s a good place to make a stop. Please If you found this review informative, could you check the box below as I am trying to set a record. Thank you.See more..

Friday 13th April and we visited Mascota as part of Vallarta Adventures Pueblos Magicos tour and one of the highlights was a visit to this Church in the centre of the Town, opposite the Square or Plaza. In the grounds of the Church is a statue to commemorate Saint José María Robles Hurtado, who was from Mascota. He was a Mexican priest martyred during the Cristero War which took placed between 1926 and 1929. Inside the Church is a picture on one of the walls of the Saint. The Basilica has a high arched ornate ceiling. There are a number of statues of Saints along the sides of the pews, which leads down to a large very striking altar, with a number of religious statues of Mary the Mother of God and Jesus Christ. While we were in the Square there was a peel of the Church bells, which range out across the town. The bells are housed in the impressive clock/bell tower that is a feature of the Mascota skyline. Visitors are requested to remove hats/caps when entering - photography is permitted. Entry to the Basilica is free, however there is a donation box near the door, all helps towards the upkeep and maintenance of this magnificent building. Beautiful Church well worth a visit, take a few moments in one of the pews to enjoy the splendour and tranquillity of this holy place.See more..
