    Domaine de Chambleau image
Came here with my mom, sisters and husband in May for a Friday night wine tasting and had the best experience! The wine tasting room has beautiful views and spacious family style communal seating. The owners and host of the wine tasting were wonderful at letting us try all their delicious wines and making us feel welcome (they spoke English well). They also had bread and cheese available for the tasting. We ended up staying way past the wine tasting closing time and walked away with lots of great wine! Their oeil de perdrix (rose), Pinot noir (charlotte) and Marc were our favorites of the night. I also loved the pur sang Pinot noir!! I would highly recommend going there for a wine tasting - you may want to call beforehand to let them know you're coming. See more..

Friendly staff and excellent chocolate!! Really love the cute and sophisticated packaging. The chocolate is not overly sweet and you can taste the high quality that goes into every chocolate piece. Really love the salted chocolate covered macadamia nuts - must get this!! The staff is always patient and willing to help explain all the different types of chocolate despite not knowing French. I always bring back these chocolates to my friends in the US and they also say it’s best they’ve ever had. See more..

If you are in Neuchatel, you can't miss this place. Here you find good restaurants with a view over the lake, promenade path, playgrounds, areas for a volley, etc. To me, it's the best part of the city, as I can refresh my mind after a long day and have a great walk there observing the transparent lake. Some people swim there even when it's cold! See more..

  15. 4.5 Gorges de l'Areuse (123 reviews)
    - A must see, must walk this relaxing path
Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Waterfalls
    Gorges de l'Areuse image
Brilliant place, nice walk, I would recommend to park the car uphill and walk downhill with majority of visitors, otherwise you will walk against everyone if moving uphill. Beautiful nature and walking path and bridges. There are few restaurants and refreshing places, no worry, you will not starve. Just don't park in the village of Noiraigue: there is no payable parking, and when you return to your car, you will find a 40 CHF ticket for wrong parking, even on Sunday afternoon when nobody needs those parking places. I see the village mayor is happy to get easy tourist's moneys. See more..
  16. 4.5 Laténium Parc et musée d'archéologie (118 reviews)
    - Best museum to learn about the life of Celts with reconstructed pile houses
    Monday: Speciality Museums
Laténium Parc et musée d'archéologie image
If you are going to the Latenium from the port of Neuchatel you don't have to pay for the boat ride to the museum. Just tell the ticket taker you are going to the museum and show your museum entrance ticket when you return. We rode there on an ordinary boat but were fortunate enough to catch the 1912 restored paddle wheel steamer back. The museum is fascinating and contains a wide variety of Celtic artifacts. Outside in the park you can view a reconstruction of a number of Celtic houses and if you look below the water near the dock you will see a sunken model of a Celtic boat. There is a small cafeteria there for lunch with a great view of the lake. See more..

    Maison de l'Absinthe image
The House of Absinthe, a must-see place for the "Green Fairy"! The cradle of absinthe is located in the heart of Val-de-Travers, where the famous Green Fairy took flight, survived a century of prohibition and where, today, twenty producers distill the famous elixir while five farmers cultivate the medicinal plants necessary for its manufacture. The development of this unique heritage and its history is at the House of Absinthe, Môtiers. Binding innovatively culture, economy and tourism, this center presents its history, with the mythical period of the underground and its recent evolutions. Between myth and reality, the visitor discovers the deep and authentic links that unite the plant, the drink, the terroir and the identity and to finish in beauty ... more than thirty kinds of absinthes are to be tasted! - Great experience
    Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
    Parc Aventure Chaumont image
I was there with my class during a school camp. The 'Parc Aventure Chaumont' is by far one of the best rope courses I have ever visited. My students loved it, too. It has many different climbing lanes with different levels, so it's possible for everyone to find its own challenge. And not to forget the wonderful view over Lake Neuchâtel and beyond. :) We also had a German instructor, so no worries if you don't speak French. After the climbing, there's enough space to have a picnic. You can easy get to the parc by the funicular Chaumont. After climbing I can recommend walking the 'Sentier du Temps' down the hill back to the city of Neuchâtel. See more..

    - Fantastic day
    Sightseeing Tours
    Swiss Watch Tours image
I heard about this tour from a friend of mine. I planned it 5 months ago and was looking forward to it so much because I’m big collector of all sorts of watches. Roy or Royston, as I though his name was, who was our guide, took us to a world famous watch maker in the heart of all Swiss made watches. It was like Disney land for me, I couldn’t wish to meet a better organised tour or tour guide. You get lunch, and he is a fountain of knowledge. Roy who will take you around in the surrounding area which alone has lots of interesting history. Well worth it!! See more..
  25. 4.5 Lac des Taillères (32 reviews)
    - for ice skating or swimming
Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
    Lac des Taillères image
To most Swiss the name La Brévine is almost synonymous with 'Siberia of Switzerland', the place, where regularly the lowest temperatures are measured every winter, in January 1987 down to -41.8 °, the national record. Less people know that the high valley at a bit more than 1000m asl is a great place to visit any time of the year. Not only is La Brévine also an attractive, compact little village with several restaurants, but nearby can be found the second largest lake of the canton de Neuchâtel, the Lac des Tailleres. In winter people, who enjoy an invigorating cold, will go for ice skating on the frozen lake, while in summer the water temperatures, reaching up to 24° C, are ideal for swimming. Any time of the year the area offers itself for beautiful hikes. From Môtiers in the Val-de-Travers there is the historical hike 'Vy des Moines' to La Brévine. My choice had been the about 5h walk from the border village Les Verrières to here. The lake has a length of a bit less than 2km and is about 250m wide. On its northern side there are several typical farmhouses of the Jura, while the steeper southern side has forests, but als a log cabin and a holiday chalet for rent. To get to the village of La Brévine from the lake it is an about 1h walk, if one doesn't use the car road. Interesting is the fact that no river or brook can be seen flowing into or out of the lake. The lake gets fed by rainwater and the drain then disappears underground into a porous, cavernous rockbed just to come out again 6km away in the Val-de-Travers at the karst spring of St.Sulpice, which is the beginning of the river Areuse. La Maison Blanche - Le Corbusier image
Tired of watches, looking for something special in La-Chaux? Just get through the extra work and request a guide by mail. The staff is pleasant, forthcoming and will do their best to help you. This comes at an additional price worth every penny (for us- a group of six, the whole experience amounted to 10.- pp entrance and 100.- for the lady guide). We visited on a weekend and arrived early, enjoying the extra time in the peaceful garden. Our guide showed us around and pointed out many details from the life of the architect, his work, (local) architectural history, using perfect English. The whole acquired knowledge added extra quality and a cultural touch to our Jurassic trip, shining a special light on a town that's otherwise better known for watchmaking. See more..
