First funicular to Stoos then ski lift to Klingenstock just to get to the trailhead! The Ridge Hike connects Klingenstock and Fronalpstock over the most picturesque terrain imaginable; words nor pictures can do it justice. Though beautiful, this is NOT a easy hike. The 4-1/2 mile path is constantly gaining and then losing elevation, in many places quite drastic. It took us a little over 3-hrs to complete. We stopped and ate lunch on the trail and one of several view points that hat picnic tables and probably took 50 photos, not to mention the times we stopped after a big climb to catch our breath. For me, the barrel-shaped carriage is the highlight but not the steepness. The design of these bright yellow carriages is so cool. They look like a caterpillar or a multi-cylinder whistle but certainly not like a funicular. The carriages rotate to maintain a level floor surface for passengers. So I didn’t feel the inclination at all inside the carriage. We took this caterpillar-like funicular to Stoos where we changed to take a ski lift reaching Klingenstock. From there we started the hike for two hours along the mountain range to reach Fronalstock. The scenery en route was beautiful. On the left is Lake Lucerne and on the right is Grosser Mythen (1898m) and Kleiner Mythen (1810m). The countless colourful wild flowers along the track further made the hike relaxing and enjoyable. The Goldapfel Museum was featured on a travel video I found, so when I was in Einsiedeln, I looked for it. A local put us in the right direction. The bakery sales floor is where you enter the establishment. The museum entrance is up the stairs to the right of the sales counter. It winds around rooms behind the sales area. It is only accessible via stairs. The museum is small, but educational about the history of the bakery. The sales lady was very kind and gave us a couple samples after our tour. We purchased a couple of their specialty "cookies" which were very good. I wish I had purchased a few more. The museum and bakery is a small stop, but worth a look! See more..

Hiking in Rigi is very popular and that's what makes it very touristic. Seebodenalp however is the way to feel nature far from crowds and with an amazing view on Luzern from top. If you have a car, it is much cheaper to get there since the only thing that you need to pay in the parking spot and not the expensive railways.
