- 5.0 La Tingana Refugio Natural (67 reviews)
-¡Paradise!
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Another amazing time in Tingana. It was an spectacular journey, knowing more about of Tingana Nature Reserve. From my last visit to this Reserve, it improved so much with new implementations and more things to do. This time my friends and I had an amazing tour by a boat ride around the river, where we were able to see so many types of monkeys, butterflies and birds; also getting useful information of the Aguajales and Renacales' benefits. I can't wait to go back! - You must try to visit this place. See more..

- 5.0 Moksha Yoga Amazonica (22 reviews)
-Life changing
Friday: 5:00 AM - 8:00 PM Sports Camps & Clinics • Eco Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Archaeology Tours
I completed my 200 YYT in Moyobamba with Moksha Yoga Amazonica last January and I've really enjoyed myself and learned a lot in the amazing jungle of Peru. The training was super intensive at all levels. We touched on a variety of more theoretical and philosophical subjects, we explored several styles of yoga (Hatha, vinyasa, kundalini, yin, and even aqua!), Lots of styles of meditation (guided, musical, candlelight). We also had excursions that allowed us to discover the Moyobamba region and practice in nature. These adventures were not very touristy, therefore relaxing. And what about the food! It was a very authentic experience! This 200 YYT is a great introductory training that gives a good basis for beginners and intermediate yogis. It has motivated me to further my knowledge of yoga philosophy and to deepen my asana practice. Vincent Roy draws from his personal experience in martial arts to complement his teaching, which was great for pranayama. The only other thing I would recommend is to get your own private room, as the training is very intense and you don't have much time on your own. You are responsible for your own experience and I would suggest you make the best out of it! Namaste, Gabrielle See more..

- 5.0 Cueva de Palestina (12 reviews)
-Cool cave; great people
Spent 2-3 hours Caverns & Caves
This was a cool cave, in a beautiful area, with extremely friendly guides. The cave is very active, with water dripping everywhere, and an underground river flowing through the cave (though you can't see most of that), with a beautiful riverside spot outside of the exit where you can relax and feed the fishes. To get there, you take a short mototaxi ride from Nueva Cajamarca, then take a walk through the jungle, along a river that flows out of the cave, then take a 45-minute cave tour. They're going to be expanding this tour later in the year, to make it more of an adventure tour experience, which sounds pretty cool. As it is, though, this is a great stop if you're in the area! -Beautiful! Worth the visit!
Friday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Waterfalls
We enjoyed the day trip here. Ice cold water, but your body adjusts quickly. Great short hike and scenery. The hike is short, but still a little strenuous. so many varieties of butterflies. Little lizards are hidden in the leaves if you look hard for them. Beautiful day and great amenities too. Changing rooms at the top by waterfall. A+. Bonus perk, our tour bus pulled over to take pictures at the sign for the falls and we saw several varieties of monkeys ❤️ See more..
- 4.5 Catarata Pucayaquillo (129 reviews)
-A private waterfall at our feet
Spent 2-3 hours Waterfalls
My parents, boyfriend, and I came to this waterfall as a day tour with the PumaRinRi hotel. The hike was a little much for my inexperienced 58-yr-old mother, but she made it through just fine! Otherwise, the hike is enjoyable and not too challenging, and so worth it when you arrive at the waterfall and lagoon and you have it all to yourself! We were able to swim leisurely and take all the photos we wanted! Way better than other places I'd been, like Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica, that look private and exotic but really are crawling with tourists. Def check this out if you're in the area! See more..

- 4.5 Cascadas de Pishurayacu (99 reviews)
-Highlight of my time in Tarapoto
Friday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Waterfalls
I spent 2 months in Tarapoto and tried to visit somewhere new every weekend - this was by far my favourite! As we're quite active people we found the walk through the jungle enjoyable, however some other members of our tour group struggled slightly (particularly with all the ladders). After crossing the river we continued to the waterfall where we swam at the bottom before climbing the ladder to swim in the cave-like pool at the top. If you are a strong swimmer, you can also try jumping from the top of the waterfall! See more..

- 4.5 Morro de Calzada (10 reviews)
-Good hike
Mountains
I arrived at Moyobamba from Tarapoto at about 9am. I decided to step out of the city to climb the Morro, since it caught my eye. I found a combi in Callao and Benavidez that takes you to the crossroads right on the little town of Calzada. The ride takes about took about ten minutes. It cost me 2.50 soles. From there I took a moto taxi to the entrance. I haggled the price down from 10 to 8 soles. The entrance fee is 3 soles. From the entrance it's a hike of about an hour and a half. It's tough in some parts of the climb but nothing that will set you back. The walk has a jungle feel like the treks I did in Tarapoto and Tingo Maria. There's monkeys and birds and loads of insects to see. Once at the top the views are pretty amazing. I walked back to the crossroads and just waited for another combi to take me back to moyobamba.
