I stayed at Chris's casa in Puerta Inca for 5 weeks with Puerta Inca Tours. My time in Peurto Inca (with Puerto Inca Tours) left a powerful mark on me. I think about Puerta Inca almost daily thanks to the incredible people, places and nature that's all around there. The town is so humble and beautiful and full of incredible people who I will never forget and cannot wait to see again - even despite my lack of Spanish. The iconic bridge, markets and restaurants straddle a beautiful stretch of river which is alive with activity. The nearby jungle shares swimming spots, beautiful wildlife and bat-inhabited caves. Shop owners, neighbours and other locals become friends. Puerta Inca tours make Puerto Inca feel like a home. One of the purest places on Earth. I'm so excited to return before too long! See more..

Churubammba city hall has a great small museum, this is a nice small place surrounded by locals so make sure you go with a local because people in the area don’t speak English at all and not guides in the museum just pieces of papers with some info about their Mummies and relics. So you will discover this area with your own eyes. People is very friendly but they will look a bit surprise of seen new visitors. It is a nice experience that you can't miss if you visit Huánuco. And if you can leave some info at the place in english for the next visitors that would be very helpful for the locals in the area.Price to get into the museum is less than 1 dollar. See more..

Cómo llegar? Tomas un vuelo a Pucallpa. Sales de madrugada a Puerto Honoria como a 03 horas de Pucallpa. De ahí una canoa o peque peque te llevará x el río Huallaga como 15 minutod. Bajas y un trek de 03 horas te lleva al inicio del Mayantuyacu, el río hirviente.

Qué encuentras? Si eres de experiencias, te encuentras un centro en que usan el ayahuasca como terapia y sanación. Si no te gusta eso, caminar x el río hirviente es una experiencia única. See more..

I always have a lot of feelings when comes to the amazon jungle, Tingo Maria is the door to the amazon to la selva, la cueva de las lechuzas inside the Tingo maria park is a wonder of nature, is actually "camino a monzon" like Miky Gonzales said in his song, on the road to Monzon, before you have to climb to the Cave , notice the river that is actually coming from under the mountain, climb take your time, inside the cave you will feel the magic and electricity of a theme park ride only this is not man made, I will not spoil the adventure, you must go........... This is the place to get the best photos of Tingo Maria and La Bella Durmiente, as well as the northern, less-photographed surroundings· It is a bit of walk, even if you take a moto-taxi to the entrance, as it is mostly upstairs. But it's worth the effort--you can easily spend an hour here admiring the view. There is a small souvenir shop at the top if you want T-shirts or jungle artifacts. See more..

After years of wanting to go there I finally made it to the Inca archaeological site of Huanuco Pampa. Well it was worth the wait, the site located high on a plateau above the town of La Union, is none less impressive than more famous Inca sites in the Cusco region. As could be expected there is plenty of impressive Inca stonework, but the best thing about the site is that given its remote location few tourists make it there, meaning we had the site all to ourselves! We visited it as a very long day trip from the town of Huaraz, which involved a lot of driving, but it was so worth it! See more..

I remember I went there one morning I felt there was nothing else to do in Tingo Maria, but I was totally wrong, I took a taxi and told the driver I wanted to see real, wild animals, then he suggested going to the Snake Home, so when I arrived I was surprised with the place, the host was a specialist in snakes, He noticed my curiosity and asked me if I wanted to have a snake on my shoulders, saying that it was completely safe, I accepted and then , there it was, a big anaconda on my shoulders, I had to keep its mouth closed only, had great pictures. we walked around the place, observed more types of snakes and finally he took me to the baby snake room, wow! so many in captivity! And well after that I went to the Virgin Falls, I had a fantastic day in Tingo Maria - Huánuco. See more..

If you happen to find yourself in Huanuco, Peru, I would definitely recommend that you visit this place. I don't think I would travel all the way to Huanuco JUST TO SEE IT, but it is most definitely a very interesting site. It is difficult to find information on the internet about the place and its history, and if you can read Spanish, there is a plethora of information about it there. Great experience. See more..

Last May some colleagues and I had the opportunity to visit Peru, for observation of archaeological sites and plant biodiversity. High Tours was in charge of the logistics of the trip. It was just an incredible experience! The landscapes, many of them about 4000 m in elevation were simply amazing! A once in lifetime experience! It was not always easy to reach some of the places. However, High Tours’s staff was there to make it possible and sort all the difficulties that could happen. They were always very respectful with the environment and ancestors legacy. Also, they were all the time very willing to help and to make you feel comfortable. These adventure trips are not always straightforward, so you need an experienced and responsible travel agency to do the logistics. If you go to Peru, definitively that travel agency is High Tours!! This is a bridge dating from the 19th century, which once was part of the road to Tingo Maria. Now it's purely pedestrian, which is a good thing. It's attractive but not especially unique. There's a little park around it. If you want good photos, go across the bridge, turn right, and go into the parking lot. You can frame the bridge with trees from the shore of the Huallaga River. This is one of several waterfalls in the Tingo Maria area, and probably the closest--you can get there easily by 'moto-taxi' for about 6 soles. You have to take a short walk through the jungle to get there--about ten minutes if you don't stop and take pictures, and it's not strenuous at all. There are two main areas, one is a pool just down a level from the falls themselves, where you swim if you like (swimsuits and changing rooms available for a small fee). For another sol you can climb up to the main attraction, and what an attraction it is! It's not particularly high, about 30 meters if I remember right, but the setting is wonderfully natural, with hugerocks to climb on to get closer to the falls, lots of trees and sunlight, plus the soothing sound of water falling on water. The area is kept clean by the people who apparently live there (at least when the falls are open) so the experience is very pleasant overall. We took a lot of pictures of the area, some of which I use as my computer wallpaper. Well worth going to. You can do the whole tour by yourself if you take moto-taxis, but you may have to wait a little for the return trip until another vehicle comes. See more..
