My favourite part of the 9 days we spent with Mohammed was the 2 nights at the desert and Chefchaouen (the blue city). Also driving through the country and visiting many cities was an outstanding experience. Mohammed is excellent at his job and always went the extra step to make us happy. Definitely recommend the tour he offers. Try longer than 3 days to enjoy the desert. See more..

    Musée Abderrahman Slaoui image
The best cultural experience for me in Casablanca! They have an outstanding collection of original artifacts from the time of French occupancy, including advertising posters for traveling in Morocco, costumes, jewelry, ceramics, glass, and a really wonderful exhibition of contemporary paintings. I just loved it. The visit is on 3 levels…not too big, and there is an elevator & coffee shop. See more..
  7. 4.5 Museum of Moroccan Judaism (152 reviews)
    - One of a kind
Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
    Museum of Moroccan Judaism image
The Museum just reopened after major renovation and it is a delight. Our guide was the curator, whose passion for Moroccan Jewish history was contagious. (The signs are in French and Arabic, so we were fortunate to walk through with an English speaker.) There is a lovely display of jewelry made by Jewish artisans as well as a souk-size jeweler's workshop. Other exhibits illustrate religious and family life. The museum is located in a residential area. If your party is three persons or less, you can take a petit taxi from the city center for 25 dirham (about $3.00). As we were leaving, a large group of teenagers was arriving for a school field trip and I was happy to see that is it not just a tourist attraction. See more..
  8. 4.5 Mazagan Golf Club (113 reviews)
    - Great Links
Tuesday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Golf Courses
    Mazagan Golf Club image
The Mazagan Golf course has been designed by Gary Player, the South African golfer who is considered one of the greatest players the game has ever seen. His biggest titles were won on links courses, a major source of inspiration for creating and designing the Mazagan Golf course. The Mazagan Golf course, is a par 72, 18-hole links course alongside the beach, following the contours of the dunes and natural features of the land. The Mazagan Golf course was designed with focus on respecting this environment and conserving its natural character and wonderful sea views. Golfers of all levels of ability are drawn to its 'heroic shots,' while its broadened fairways are very forgiving for the less audacious player. After an invigorating round next to the sea, George welcomes you to its restaurant or terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A bar and pro shop are also available. See more..

    Temple Beth-El image
Beautiful building hidden on a side street behind solid green gates. Close to our hotel but Maps app turned us every way but loose. The feeling inside the worship space requires reverence regardless of your faith. Much info about the congregation on plaques outside the building. See more..
  10. 4.5 Kasbah Boulaouane (26 reviews)
    - Off the beaten track
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Kasbah Boulaouane image
We went here from Sidi Bennour where we were staying with Moroccan friends. It is quite spectacular to see the Kasbah in the distance as you come in on the road from the dead flat farmlands to see the gorge and bend in the river with the ruins on top. It was deserted when we visited and you can easily spend a couple of hours wandering around and enjoying the tranquil surroundings with views of the villages across the river valley. It's a pity really that it is just being left to crumble away as it is a very imposing building and would be fantastic if restored a bit. Be aware that there are no fences or anything, so you can walk around anywhere and in some places there are holes in the ground with a deep drop down into the rooms below. Children would need to be very closely supervised - don't let them wander off on their own! See more..
  11. 4.5 Lagoon of Oualidia (21 reviews)
    - Beware the falling tide
Bodies of Water • National Parks • Beaches
    Lagoon of Oualidia image
We, swimmers as we are, saw calm water and immediately jumped into. Whoops! We started at the local beach (behind Hotel Lagon Bleu) and wound up at the next beach out towards the mouth of the lagoon. You see, as the tide recedes, it of course pulls the water from the lagoon, creating quite the current. We were not prepared and were quite literally swept away. Stupid, yes. Dangerous, well, there was another beach and plenty of help nearby if we'd not made it... See more..

  18. 4.0 Notre Dame de Lourdes (408 reviews)
    - Magnificent Stained Glass with Photographic Opportunities.
    Religious Sites
    Notre Dame de Lourdes image
I visited Notre Dame de Lourdes shortly after visiting Hassan II Mosque. They provide an interesting contrast in ways a building glorifies God / Allah. Both buildings use masterful craftsmanship. Notre Dame de Lourdes has the most magnificent mosaic stained glass windows I have ever seen. I have included 4 of the pictures that I took. This is a marvelous photographic opportunity. If you have one, bring a tripod. I would love to see some low ISO timed exposures. If you use Lightroom expect to use transform>vertical for the windows which reach to the top of the nave. Also consider obtaining / using an inexpensive level to assure your camera lens is vertical when you take pictures of the side windows. If it is a very sunny day consider taking pictures of where the light coming through the windows falls on objects / people within the nave. Enjoy the photography !! See more..

Sidi Bouzid Beach (Plage de Sidi Bouzid) image
We went to Sidi Bouzid late in the afternoon and had a lovely walk along the beach and promenade to watch the setting sun. There isn't much in the way of cafes and such along the waterfront but we got a little tub of cooked snails from a roadside stall and ate them overlooking the beach. Nice clean water with good looking waves peeling off the point to the north. See more..
  22. 4.0 Mahkama Du Pacha (136 reviews)
    - Pasha’s Courthouse!
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Mahkama Du Pacha image
La mahkama du pacha is another beautiful building you can find on Muhammed V Square. It was conceived in 1925 by a French architect called Auguste Cadet. It is the court of justice which also serves as a venue for special state receptions. It was conceived in the French Arab style called Mauresque with strong Moorish elements. Some features remind you of Granada’s Alhambra. Some give a glimpse of Persian medrasahs. The main portal looks like a Persian Iwan. As you enter into the main hall the arched ceiling and the central courtyard look like those of a beautiful mosque. You can see carved cedar ceiling, elegant mosaics and carved stucco in the graceful interior. Stylish geometric patterns have been used here. It was a pleasure to see such a graceful building. Villa des Arts de Casablanca image
The Villa des Arts is a contemporary art museum of Casablanca located near Parc de la Ligue Arabe on Boulevard Brahim Roudani. Morocco has an interesting modern art scene. There is a domestic permanent display here along with temporary international exhibitions. It is managed by ONA cultural foundation. The cubical white building which houses these exhibits is in itself worth seeing as it is a 1934 Art Deco villa which belonged to a businessman. The well tended gardens are also worth a visit as they have a display of some very artistic sculptures. See more..
